I don't know the circumstances of the accident, do you? The traction control could have been off, the car could have been going too fast, or the diver could have been a moron.
It was probably turned off as usual

Could have been.
He was driving on a motorway with his brand new bicycle strapped to the back that he had just collected. I doubt many folk would turn traction off in those circumstances. Wheel of new racing bike in frame.

He blamed the Cup2's for the spin.

To be honest, I doubt DSC would help control an aquaplane event. Especially with Cup2's, they let go pretty suddenly in wet conditions. They are only 5.5mm tread depth when new and being soft, they wear pretty quick.

T
Michelin quotes a tread depth of 7.2/32nds. However your point is taken that they do have shallower tread depth than the MPSS or MPS4S.
This is a link to some Connect 240 info...

Tire Rack search isn't returning the correct tires, yet or wasn't?

These are not the same tires.

PILOT SPORT CUP 2 CONNECT (240) <- M2 sizes not listed, yet.

PILOT SPORT CUP 2 TRACK CONNECT <- prior to M2CS, not 240

Michelin provided me this information and is what we want. If you call make sure they confirm these numbers. I talked w/a couple different people at Tire Rack and they are all over the place on these tires.

Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect (240)
Michelin MSPN 90817 - 245/35ZR19/XL (93Y)
Michelin MSPN 67497 - 265/35ZR19/XL (98Y)
$499 Track Connect Kit

So, if I don't want the connect stuff, I just buy the cheaper star rated set? $1600 ain't bad fit four 240 rated PSC2 tires.

Well I decided to be patient for once and ordered the 4S.

8-10 weeks. And I'm itching to get my new 763Ms on.

Painful wait, but will be worth it.

Stock

Toyed with +10MM but I'm weird about tires...just feel more comfortable with stock on a higher performance vehicle.

My 4runner on the other hand, I sold the stock wheels and tires the day after I bought it and upgraded to the biggest tires I could without lifting the thing.

Nice, can't wait to see some pics!

With my 763s already in hand, I may just coat them every weekend to give me something to do until the tires arrive

Smart to stay with the stock size

It's not weird

You think? This guy tried going a little fast on a wet motorway with Cup2's.
I think his right rear tire failed him

In fact in the photograph take notice it's missing

You're not weird, you're smart.

And if you ceramic coat your wheels, which you SHOULD do, and decide to do a second coat, make sure to do it within the manufacture's specified time (they're all different). But once those coats are done, don't do any more .

I thought ceramic coating wheels was all BS and a waste of time and money b/c the small metallic flakes from the brakes would still melt into the clear coat.

Well, I can say for sure that the Gyeon Rim and time spent coating my 763M was time and money well spent without a doubt!

Oh I know...was kidding and just highlighting how hard it will be to have those wheels sit for two months doing nothing.

By the way, I love those esoteric videos. Have watched quite a few in the past. I grew up in Ohio and if I lived in Columbus they would be seeing my cars regularly.

It's not BS at all, if you're doing it for ease-of-cleaning purposes. But protection from brake dust? I can't imagine it would do any good at all (but I'm no expert). My Ferric 437's are ceramic coated and they are soooooo easy to clean.

And yeah, you can bet when my 763's get here they will be ceramic coated!

What brand did you use? Single or multi-layer? I’m starting the research in prep of coating my 437’s. Also, curious how long these coatings on rims will last...

This is the one I bought. You can read the comments to see how long it lasts, like 18 months I think. It's not the best, that's in the comments as well, but it'll do.

After thinking about it a bit, I'm not sure I'm going to coat mine at all now. My ultimate goal is to have them powder coated Orbit Grey (or as close as I can get to it), so I'm not sure it's smart to ceramic coat them (more research is in order).

If I had planned to keep them the stock finish, I certainly would have done at least 2 coats, 1 hour apart.

FWIW, I bought gyeon rim to coat my 763s

I'll report back in 8-10 weeks when my tires arrive and I can actually coat the inner barrel after having them mounted/balanced. Smh.

I coated the entire outside before mounting.

Feel the barrel before and after applying. The difference is night and day and explains why it works. It fills and levels all the pits in what seems like smooth paint.

Yeah I'll be doing the outside and inside spokes in the coming week or two.

Then mount/balance

Then coat inner barrel

Then install

By the time I'm enjoying my new rims and tires it will be time to switch to winters
