Hey all,

I picked mine up here in NC about a month ago after quite a few delays, and have finally got it broken-in and cleaned up for this post! Really impressed with the ride and the top end torque compared to the M2C - completely different feeling.

I'll be heading to VIR this weekend, then down to CMP, then back to VIR in the span of a month. Was a bit concerned about the OEM stuff, so I've added a few things:

AP Racing by Essex kits front and rear with the Ferodo DS3.12 pads, which have been quite impressive on the street for such an aggressive compound. A bit of a squeak at crawling speeds but that's about it. (No worse than the DS2500s I ran on the M2C) Definitely recommend the pad tension kit if you go for this BBK and plan to DD them. Stay tuned for feedback from the circuit.

Millway street plates - will let you know how much front camber I can get with these. NVH is good so far!

Apex FL-5 18x9.5 ET28 at all four corners with 265/35R18 Ventus RS4s for the track

Full front 3M PPF and Ceramic Coating all around

Excited for this season, and many more!

Is that brake setup much better than the stocks that it’s worth the swap and expense?

Welcome! Glad you have had a chance to really drive it and break it in. I couldn't agree more on how different it feels above 5000. Love the spec (my twin!) and look forward to your racing updates over the next month.

Nice! Let us know how the track days go.

where did you pick up the camber plates from? When I looked through their website I didn't see the street variant listed, just the motorsport bearing versions for the CS.

Sweet see you at VIR. Let's get a picture together. May I commend you on your track mods and your willingness to track such a wonderful car.

What is your second VIR event? I'll only be going to VIR about 10 weekends this year if all goes as planned.

Mike

Hmm, well the swap was a DIY. As far as the parts, I prefer to call them an investment. Will let you know next week if the performance backs it up!

Swapping only the fronts is more cost effective overall, but switching the rears does guarantee the fit for 18" wheels, which reduces consumable cost somewhat and saves all the OEM parts.

Update!

The car as configured here was good for 1:46ish at CMP and 2:09.9 at VIR. I'm still a novice so there's probably a few seconds out there for the taking at each circuit. The RS4s behaved well and the wear is impressive after 3 weekends and one Friday. Love the balance on the square setup! Still enough understeer in the steady-state stuff to keep me out of trouble. That and MDM, of course. First set of front pads lasted about 10 hours of driving, and the rotors are getting pretty cracked, but they should be good for a while longer before the rings need replacing. That being said, the brakes work great in 40 minute sessions and I haven't observed anything that would reduce the massive confidence the setup has provided.

Good to know. I'm scheduled for CMP on the 25th but will be renting a Porsche Cayman S since my m2C won't be here till mid July.

End of year update!

I ended up running on the same set of square RS4s all year (18 HPDE days), flipping them on the wheels around halfway through the season, and rotating front to rear every weekend. Some small chunks of tread came off the outboard section, perhaps due to excessive heat and/or poor pressure management, so that’s something to keep an eye on. Perhaps a 275 width may mitigate that in the future. Already purchased another set of 265s, though, so I’m set for 2022. My perception at the end of the year is that they seemed to be losing some of their grip. I ran at CMP, and in the cooler weather it seemed like the effects of heat cycling were more apparent. Still have some tread left, but I think it’s time to replace.

The camber setting (-2.6ish front and -1.9ish rear) in conjunction with the toe on the car seemed to really wear down the inboard portions of the tire, hence the flipping the tire on the wheel - will discuss with some of the experts and see where I go from here in terms of alignment. Perhaps it’s expected with heavy braking and traction loads on the tire. No concerns from a performance standpoint that I could observe.

Brakes are mega with the 3.12 pads but they really chewed through a set of front rotors. Probably too much DD for such an aggressive pad too. Front pads last 3 weekends and are not cheap, so I’ll be trying some XP12s and then perhaps some 1.11s next.

Pace is improving around VIR full, and currently sitting at 2:08.2 with end-of-season RS4s.

The car is moving down to South FL in January so I’ll be hopefully be running a bunch at Homestead and Sebring. Maybe PBIR occasionally.

I am shocked by the number of days you got out of the RS4's . . .

Thanks for the update. I can't wait to see how she behaves around the bumps at Sebring.
