When does the fun end?

I spent a full day in the M2C yesterday driving 200+ miles (and used a full tank of gas ). While that is not a lot I feel like it was whole day of driving several 45-60 min trips on back roads, highway, vaccine sites (several compliments from National Guard folks coordinating the sites), having fun on the road with random BMW/MB drivers, through all kinds of traffic conditions. And all I remember is what a great day it was!

For the first time, I even put the DCT is D mode (D3) just to test it out, and frankly enjoyed it on the highways. But for the whole day I couldn't stop grinning. Its been 16 months now, and I'm still as excited as I was the first month to drive this car. You all with me?

I am with you. My M2 still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I am past three years of ownership. I think I am going to have a long time love affair.

It doesn’t. Just got back from 45 minutes of B roads and have 35k mi on the clock.

In a couple of weeks it'll be 2 years that I've had my M2C and I'm approaching 25k miles. Love, love, love this car. It's perfect for me. Just the right amount of power to have fun on back roads without being superfluous. Tossable and drifty and rotates perfectly around turns but I can pick my 3yo and 5yo up from school without a glitch.

Every year, new cars are made that are faster, more luxurious, with fancier tech and self driving nonsense. I don't need any of it. Someone's going to have to pry this steering wheel from my hands by force when it's time to give her up.

I have 2014 m235i that I did euro delivery on and I fell in love with it. 7 years later, and at the very end of this F model production I just placed an order for a 2021 M2C. I figured with as much as I love the design and enjoyment of my current car, I had to have the (almost) best version =) I'm looking forward to the minor and major upgrades of the platform for the next 7+!

19 months here, and I still thoroughly enjoy driving the car every time I get in it. In fact, with the tiny changes I've made it's even better than it was stock. I rarely get to drive the car on the highway, but when I do I'm always impressed.

If I could change one thing it'd be for the miles to go back to 0 and all the little nicks and chips to go away. But you know, that stuff is going to happen.

I traded mine in on a G82 6MT, but the M2C was an amazing car. In retrospect, I love the overall simplicity compared to the newer cars, including the lack of Adaptive M suspension. I also liked the austere interior and durable Dakota leather. The car begs you to drive it (I put 9k miles in 3 months). Powerful, short wheelbase, RWD M cars never get old. Throw in cost, and the M2C is definitely the "just right" of this generation. Pretty much a perfect all-duty fun daily car.

Enjoy!

100% Agree Kutta,

I've done 10,000kms in this car and I've only had it just over 6 months.

Don't think I've ever driven any other car as much, seems the honeymoon period is never ending

BK: You mentioned D3 mode, which mode do you typically drive the DCT in? Do you change modes for spirited driving?
I’m with you on the enjoyment of the M2C! Such a rare car in that it is practical with space, great visibility, but still very visceral and fun at every speed. Will be interesting to see how the G87 will compare to our cars.

I drive mine in S3 Mode when the car is in sport everything. Otherwise it's D1 or D2 for normal commuting

I'm usually 100% in S3. I shift all the time. Yesterday when I tried D3 it felt aggressive enough, for the times when one perhaps didn't want to shift themselves. That's the thing though, I've hardly ever put it in D. The car begs to be driven hard.

101%

Don’t want to step out of the car once I am in it...it’s going to be a modem classic in 10 years

Love the note!

Absolutely - it is so much fun to drive, and I find myself shifting it more often than not. I actually sort of like shifting it on the shifter itself, it reminds me more of my manuals.

7k miles in eleven months for me and like everyone else, the smile never goes away. I'd be in it more but I have a leased X3 M40i that needs miles before going back in thirteen months. Covid reduced my normal monthly driving.

I have to agree with you, almost two years into my ownership and i'm kind of exploring the settings i don't normally use and actually enjoying them a bit!

For me, it was the Sport + steering, which i'd always thought was artificially heavy and obnoxious. However, i've discovered I actually really like it when i'm cruising on the freeway as it provides a little extra stability. I feel like the car gets tugged around a bit less by uneven pavement in Sport+ mode.

What a car!

My M2C just had its 2nd birthday (of my ownership). I went on a mountain drive with friends. The car just eats up the tight corners heading up there and I still enjoy driving it.

For NC folks, our route included Old 18, 226A, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and 80 returning back to Marion, NC. All part of the "Diamondback" route.

The feeling is the same here. I find any reason to drive the car, which is probably the reason I'm creeping on 20k miles after 2.5 years. The more I drive the more I lean towards keeping her after the finance term. This is honestly my last BMW as I am not a fan of the new designs so I'm going to cherish every mile with the M2C.

I do window shop now and then for a P car or a w204 C63 AMG but I'd ideally want to keep the M2C as well. This is wishful thinking
