Steel to ceramic brakes
Anyone figure out the cost to do this? 12k new? Anyone have the part numbers? not something I'm planning right away but something I do envision.. I just wonder if it'll hurt resale, I'd probably still keep the steel brakes.
For me it was PPF or ceramics and I chose the PPF. I feel like I'm going to end up dropping another 18k on this car by getting the gold wheels to swap every now and then and the ceramic brakes.

You really only need the rotors and pads AFAIK but it appears to be cheaper to buy the whole retrofit kit.

I'm interested in moving to ceramic brakes too but it probably won't be until I actually need new brakes down the road.
I've heard invoice/cost for the CCB kit to be 10.5k. Not sure what dealer installation runs. My main reason thinking about CCB is for no brake dust so I'm not certain there is any added benefit for street use in my case. Maybe I'll treat myself to CCB retrofit one day if I decide to keep this car long-term (unsure). |

Now that it’s warm enough to drive it up here in a Canada I’m regretting listening to my SA who said don’t get CCB. I’ve driven it all of 5 times and the wheels are coated in brake dust. Ugh!!!!

Just buy the rotor and pad retro fit kit. Maybe you can get a bit back for the calipers. My iron brakes squeal like hell. One of the big reasons my SA said not to get CCB. Lol. I prefer the red calipers. I'd probably buy the surface transforms rotors from racing brake. I believe they are s bit more durable and can be refinished for a very reasonable cost.

My hourly rate to clean the wheels is not enough to spend $12K on CCBs when the "standard brakes" are really good (short of the dust and the lower weight is nice). If I had found one optioned with CCBs, I would have got them. |

Open question to the posters that say just change pads and rotors, why does the upgrade kit include a brake booster? Or does the CS brake system already have this booster?

Is this true on the CS. I recall the iron and ccb brakes/discs being different diameter on previous cars, but I could be mistaken. I could see potential coding difference. I suspect a simple swap of rotors and pads will work fine. Racing brake said the pistons between the calipers were the same.

Brake servo unit 34337850999 for M CCBs on F8X cars (2NK brakes) Different brake servo unit and coding for CCBs due to significantly different coefficients of friction of materials Rumor has it that the pistons in CCB calipers might be made of a different material due to the higher temperatures that the CCB can generate, but I have not been able to confirm that The 2NH and 2NK piston sizes and caliper bodies (apart from paint) are the same The 2NH and 2NK front rotors are the same diameter, but different thicknesses 2NH - 400x36mm 2NK - 400x38mm HTH |

I won’t go back to ceramics. Too easily chipped and too much squealing. I optioned steels on my CS (they are fantastic) and will return to steels on my 992 GT3. With this said, I wish those with ceramics great luck and long enjoyment.

My iron brakes seem to be squealing more as time goes on. Very noticeable (and annoying) of late. Not sure why the increase .. are they settling in, warmer temperatures, ...?
I'm interested in the CCB swap out at some point. Elimination of the crazy brake dust and much lower unsprung mass are two good reasons. But in no rush. Yeah, it doesn't take long to clean the wheels, however it's a bummer to get the gold wheels up to a glorious shine only to see them "soiled" after one spirited drive. |

Agree, the reason to go to CCBs would *not* be lack of stopping power of the irons. They're mighty for this little car.
