Just out of curiosity, have you seen this video? Granted it's the CS but it has a lot of good info in the Supra design etc.

Honestly, I think the car looks too goofy, doesn't come with a stick, can't drive it with the windows down, is a reskinned Z4 and to be honest, doesn't look as good in my mind. I also hate all of the fake vents. The funniest thing i've seen was when the car came out, there's a youtube video of journalists and youtube people at a track with one of the Toyota guys. I think he was head of R&D or someone high up. He goes, you have to pull the hood release latch twice because that's how it was on the MK4 Supra. I'm like, dude, its a BMW, they all do that because they're BMWs. What a load of crock.
Now, if it looked like this on the other hand... that would be a completely different story.

I’ve seen a few Supras on the road lately that look very attractive with certain trim pieces in place. Still, the B58 just doesn’t do it for me. I’ve driven the new Z4 on track, and it was markedly less exciting than the M2C with the DCT. Given that I don’t really track my car, the manual transmission is really the superior option for enjoyable to/fro trips around town. Paired with the S55, I can’t imagine trading that for a Supra.
Also, I like to occasionally drive with my windows down. That’s not a thing in the Supra, from what I’ve read. I think if you really want a Supra, sell the M2C, and wait a year or two to get into a Supra. I think they’ll depreciate rather starkly, especially the early run with less power. |

In benchmarking the Porsche Cayman, Toyota seemed to have forgotten that the M2 exists. There are probably way more people cross-shopping the two compared to those cross-shopping a Porsche and Toyota. Probably not completely their fault since back when development started (assuming 2014 because that's when the FT-1 concept was released), the M2 was still years away from going on sale to the public. Personally, if the M2 didn't exist, I would've bought the Supra.
If the Supra came with a manual, that might've been enough to sway me. If the Supra was another 200 pounds lighter, that would've swayed me. If the Supra got a DCT instead of the ZF8, that would've been enough. If the Supra got a S55/58, I would've definitely picked that over the M2. If the Supra's price started $5,000 less, that would've been an awesome deal that would've stolen me away. The Supra was so close to overtaking the M2, but it's just missing any one of those extra things above that would've pushed me over the edge. |

I don't think the brand itself is too big of a deal, similarly I would think a brand like Chevy also treats their Corvette customers much differently than their Cruze customers |

I say this because if there's technology to lock it then I'm sure there's a way to unlock it in due time. |

See pictures of article below for how the cars drive vs the lap times. I’d rather have a better drivers car than a slightly faster lap time, and how many of us can drive like Randy Pobst anyway, right? https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...1&d=1617910410 https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...1&d=1617910410 https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...1&d=1617910410 |

I genuinely don't know why you would disregard the laptime comparison from Randy. This video have demonstrated despite having lower HP, the supra have superior chassis to yield faster laptimes in a racetrack.
