M2C order - On the fence

Hello everyone, I would like to hear more from the community as i am on the fence on placing a M2C order.

- Prefer DCT in F87 over ZF 8 speed in G87, even though G87 transmission might be better. Drove manuals all my life and had a couple of MK7 DSG GTIs in the past years.
- G87 will be coming in with a lot of tech which i dont want. I am planning to keep this vehicle for a very long time.
- Factory ordered most of my vehicles. Dont want miss to the boat and compromise on the spec later on trying to find a new one off the lot later this year or a clean used one next year.
- This will be the last MY from Leipzig plant.

I would love to hear opinions from the community if anyone had similar dilemmas and ordered a F87 or waiting for a G87.

Life is short, order an F87 if you can find an allocation and get what you want now.

When the G87 is here in 2023 you can decide if it's worth it to trade up for.

Get it now and if the G87 hits the boxes you're looking for, jump in 2 years into its life cycle (4 years from now).
That's what I'm doing this weekend.

Guess i will most likely go ahead and place an order. I am reaching out to dealers and trying to find an allocation.

I'm between keeping my 2017, buying used m2c, and ordering a g87 in MT. I wonder if by the time they g87 comes out I'll be in a different situation where I can't buy a new car (marriage, kids, buy house, etc).

Since we don't have all the information on the g87 it's hard to say. The new m3 seems very capable in terms of numbers, so I assume the g87 will be too.

If I didn't own a 2017 m2 I would buy an m2c for sure right now. Since I do though I'm just not sure there is enough difference between them to justify the purchase, especially since in the stock state of tune, I'm not loving the s55 vs my n55.

For the g87 I don't want heavier, larger, worse looking, digital gauges, zf8 instead of DCT, made in Mexico over Germany.

I would like to order it in a new color, the performance increase doesn't hurt, if they made a 4 door gran coup version, better sounding than s55, nicer interior, I could take the MT guilt free because I don't have to choose between DCT and MT.

I would get the F87. I own one and love it dearly. Its a back to smiles every drive type of BMW (remember those). If you drive manuals, I would get it in manual on this car. You will feel that more connected. Recommend a clutch stop after to customize your feel. Also, with the F87 new or used I bet it will hold its value.

If i order a F87, i think would not be tempted on a G87.

Yeah, overtime our priorities might change. I prefer the analog feeling in the F87 even though G87 might bring it a lot of updates from current M3.

I have knee issues and manual is not an option any more. Got into GTIs as they had DSGs and i am currently a big fan for dual clutch automatics.
