Just a quick PSA: As most of us know, production ends in June for the M2C, and final allocations for the remaining builds will occur next month. Dealers may trade with one another for allocations, but BMW will not be allocating anymore afterward. If you have not already pulled the trigger, time is running out. I ordered my 2021 M2C back in June, took delivery in September, and have no regrets after more than 6000 miles with a wide grin on my face. My CA has assisted a number of us, and I believe she currently has 3 units available (one CS, one M2C HS w/orange trim, roof, black wheels, and one special content). She may get more allocations since she has sold a large volume, but there is no guarantee.

What is a “special content?” Was that the one with the odd white seats?

PS: I’m at 3k miles and I still couldn’t be happier with my experience... both the car and this dealer. It’s silly how easy this thing is to power slide around corners.

I agree. It's a blast! Yes, the special content is the white seats etc.

thanks for your help! I thought allocations were given to dealerships up until the last week of production. is this not true for this case?

I thought the CSs were all built and either on a boat or at a dealer or in someone's garage already?

Allocations begin before production begins. Similarly, allocations end before production ends.

just spoke with my dealer - they said I have a scheduled start date for March but wasn't able to provide production order number. Should I be concerned?

I suppose it depends on the dealer. Have you bought from that dealer previously? Have they ever misled you? I have ordered cars based on the dealer's assurance that they'd get the allocation, but there is a risk.

it's my first time interacting with this dealer. it seems like I'm going based off of assurance at this point. crossing my fingers that they can deliver. 🤞🤞

so...i placed order and deposit this morning on an allocation with status 111 (order accepted at the factory). my SA says they have only been told that production has been delayed and they cannot predict when the order will move to status 112 (order schedule). he told me that i should be prepared to wait 3-6 months...

i just missed out on an exact spec car on a dealer lot over this weekend. i saw the car listed in NH friday night. i called first thing saturday morning and was told the car was on the lot!! so excited!! only to be called about 45 minutes later and told the car sold friday night.

so now the wait begins...

btw, i've received call backs from three different dealerships (mid-atlantic to northeast) who claim they now have allocations. PM me if you're looking and need a name / number.

Sorry for the bad luck. There are so few variations of this car tell us what you are looking for and chances are someone knows of one sitting on a lot somewhere. My local dealer has two M2Cs and two M2CS available at the moment.

I ordered mine on the 3rd, also "order accepted" and status 111 already confirmed before I left the dealership. It finally flipped to "scheduled for production" sometime yesterday (18th) so 15 days from accepted to scheduled for me. Dealer was anticipating 12 weeks delivery time which sounds about right to me. So glad I moved quickly to not let this car pass me by. Would have regretted it later for sure.

A few more than that listed on Autotrader. Alexandria for example?

May not show up as unsold inventory in the BMW systems, but I know that dealers had been marking them as sold units just to make sure another dealership in their network doesn't swipe them.

i work for a dealer in Northern New England.

Some dealerships will mark a car: "Center Own Use"
"Customer Sold"
"Non Priority Stock"

Once the car is "punched" it no longer shows up on a locate as well.

So, yes there are some hidden M2's out there. Not many though...

BUT, no dealership can "swipe" a car from another store unless its released to them.

BTW, I tried several times to get a locate from other dealers within 1000 miles of Boston and not one of them would give me a M2C. This is going back 8 months!

This is now a rare animal and If I had one it would be MSRP. Supply & Demand....as it is both my 6spd M2CS's are also MSRP...

So I guess with so few options to choose from, does it make sense to order what you want, or just go on the hunt for what's on the lot? Also which way do you think would get the biggest discount from the msrp?
