Yee-haw! Fate works in strange ways. My beloved Z4 M Coupe was hit last week. I've decided not to keep it once it's fixed. Which leaves a gaping M-car hole in my garage. But I knew what would replace it, the only car that could replace it - the M2C.

The largest dealer in Phoenix had ONE allocation available, and it was almost gone just ahead of me this morning, but a guy's wife nixed his deal.

Specs:
Hock Silver
Orange stitching
Standard bi-color wheels
6MT
Exec
CF rear spoiler

Looked at adding the CF mirror caps, but cost is $1040. The SA about crapped when she saw the price. The CF rear spoiler is a nice piece and a much more reasonable $760. I think they will be coveted in the future and probably not available for long.. same thing happened with the OEM CF rear spoiler for the Z4M.

Now the wait begins. The order is already in the queue with a production number. 12 weeks is predicted lead time which sounds about right.

If you're on the fence or waiting - it's time to act! Production ends in June and there don't seem to be many available allocation slots out there for new orders. If you snooze you lose - order now or grab one of the in-stock cars that are available. The countdown begins!

i placed my order and deposit this morning on an allocation in status 111...order received at factory, but no production number yet.

Still in 111 status after 13 days for me. Oh well, it will get here when it gets here. Looking forward to getting my Z4MC back at the end of the month after a relatively minor encounter with another driver who tried to cross a 65 mph state highway and never saw me.

Mine finally got scheduled for production this morning, 16 days after order placed. Will probably see it around early May. Most excited I've been about a new BMW since the Z4MC intro in 2006.

Ordered my HS 6MT, orange stitching, exec package, sunroof delete, with MP CF front splitter, mirror caps, side vents, lip spoiler, and rear diffuser. Expect early May delivery as well, and booked an M-Drivers Course day at the performance center in SC in late April to prepare!

Should have opted for the carbon grill while you were at it to complete the look. It's not too late!

assuming these are ordered as dealer-installed options?

if i'm doing PCD, how would that work? would those type of options be installed at the PC, or would i have to return to the dealership after PCD?

i want MP CF grill, CF fender side vents, and CF spoiler...

That is a good question that someone more knowledgeable than I can answer.

My assumption is that it's all installed at port before delivery as long as the car is still in pre-production status. This way it shows up fully built to your spec at the PC.

Yep that's how it was explained to me at the dealership. The carbon parts are installed at port, and are included on the window sticker as part of the build.

And yeah I originally ordered the carbon grill outline, but decided against it. I actually like the fluidity off having the entire grill in gloss black. And if I change my mind down the road, then it'll be an easy install.

nice info! i didnt even think about adding those options and my CA was pretty laid back about the whole process and didnt push any add-ons...i would think the CA gets some additional juice for upselling those types of options?

Are you guys at MSRP now for placing orders now? Working with a dealer in state that has their last allocation. They are asking MSRP. Trying to make the last minute decision to try and hard ball for just a couple % off or take it because everyone else is paying MSRP now anyways

Krombopulous yes...MSRP. all of the dealers i spoke to made statements like, "we're still only charging MSRP" as if those last allocations might actually demand a premium at some point. if you've found an allocation, then you'd better take it.

I had a dealer who offered 2k off MSRP, but after a week of supposedly looking for an allocation and not finding one (he thought there may be another round released from BMW), I ended up grabbing one more local to me at MSRP, and they added an extra 1% to the .9% from BMWFS. Not a great deal IMO but I had a major case of FOMO =)

Yes, they are Port installed so you can probably add them for awhile.

Who did you end up going through? I've been knocking around availability with a few Bay Area dealers and like you I've had the - oh we can sort that out - and then actually no, no we can't.

I see you mentioned Mountain View having allocations but they strike me as the last place that would be offering anything off, let alone not putting in an upcharge.

He has my signature at the bottom of the worksheet, but obviously no final paperwork at this stage.

Paint Protection Film is more important to me than Ceramic coating. Some people will do both. I’m doing PPF on everything but the doors roof and trunk and will ceramic coat the wheels.

You shouldn’t have any issues pulling the trade as long as you’re still buying the car.
