I would politely disagree there.

The market is very specific on these cars used. You'd be surprised how many people would pass on an M2C without adaptive LED headlights, knowing that most have it, even if it fit the remaining criteria: 6MT with the right color and no moonroof.
It'll affect resale value by about $1000. Same price as the exec package so...resale argument doesn't make sense.

Consensus seems to be get exec pack if you dig the hexagonal adaptive headlights.

You're missing the point. I never said resale value will be higher with exec package. But the desirability factor will definitely be higher with exec.

When people stumble upon two identical M2C with same mileage and price that only differ by exec, guess which one most are going to pick?

The one with the better service history

But I get your point.

I have exec package, I bought my car from dealer stock, but preferred the package because I enjoy a heated steering wheel in the fall / spring and I enjoy the look of the "newer" lights. The wireless charger is hit or miss for me, but I use it and it doesnt overheat my phone liike others on this forum complain of.

This exactly. It's too inexpensive to overlook relative to the price of the car. Same with the HK sound system... for $1000, it's substantially better than the base.

Pretty sure that exec pack wasn't an option in Canada (heated steering wheel, upgraded lights, etc. were all included). I would never have a (new) BMW without steering wheel heating.

Correct. And the heated steering wheel is still listed under the exec package.

Same with heated seats.

My commute is 2.6 miles, so the only way I have to get warm in the Winter is that wheel and the seats, the heater doesn't even begin to work yet.

I'm pretty sure I would have paid the $1200 if the exec package only came with the adaptive headlights. The other stuff was a bonus, but not needed IMO.

You won't miss what you don't know. I did have adaptive headlights on the 1M, but it was only nice to have. Not essential.

Spend the $1,200 on some wheels or stickier tires!

I originally wanted mine without it as i didnt need it. Then the car that i was trying to get got sold to another person. The dealrship offered me the same price i was going to get on that car for the exact same car except this time with the Executive package. So for me i basically got it for free. At that point i was like, why not?

The biggest problem with not getting the executive package is that it doesn't make this car any more of a "stripper" or lightweight.

Back in the day, if you skipped these sort of packages on M3's and 1M's, you were left with no nav screen, no sunroof, manual seats, etc., all of which made the car arguably more "raw" and unique.

But today, skipping executive package in the US is not the same. You can still choose 6MT without a sunroof, which is what I did. You're probably saving 1 lb by not having the wireless charger, but you still get the same nav screen, etc.

The only reason to skip this package is if you truly don't want to spend the $1200 extra on headlights. I hate to break some hearts, but your M2C isn't any more special or "race car" because you skipped exec package.

Yea but IMHO, they're worth like every single penny:

Agreed

It's just a matter of preference (I.e. you want the hex adaptive light, heated wheel, etc)

But people seem to be getting pretty butt-hurt/have strong opinions if you don't spec the exec package lol.

First, lets be real, BMW should have included the lights in the base model. A $60k + car with no adaptive lights is kinda embarassing, this NOT new and fancy tech,..

They did upsell a bunch of people with fancy marketing lingo...To me, it sounds a lot like the Porsche playbook.

Second, the typical M2C buyer is an enthusiast that wont care about creature comforts...

Give me a raw base, 6MT, no packages any day!
I'll save the $1,200 for some mods.

There is nothing "raw" about M2C without executive package. It's the only package available and adds a few options that don't make the car any heavier or less driver focused.

This "raw" nonsense is getting old. This is a BMW, which was designed with creature comforts in mind. If you want raw, get an older M car from the 90's.

I get that you and others want to desperately save $1200, but quit calling it raw. I prefer "option-less" or "peasant" M2C, which doesn't make it raw by any stretch of the imagination.
