If there was an aftermarket upgrade option that was not too expensive, I would consider it. |

I wish BMW would go away from H/K. Almost every other premium brand has better sound than an h/k equipped BMW. I had F80 with upgraded H/K and it still sucked in comparison to Cadillac or Audi systems that I've experienced.
This being said, I don't by M cars for the sound system.

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1236238 If you don't want to suffer through that entire thread, I detailed my stereo on my build page. It was a great DIY install and well under $1000. Many suggested the subs don't make a big improvement, I found they really helped a lot. https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...06&postcount=6 And the full thread on my car mods: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1420878 |

So far as I know, we have no equalizer in the M2 HK; just vol, balance, and tone controls. Even my 135i had an equalizer with the HK, but NOT the M2. They really cheaped out on this version.. Still, I dont find the LCI incarnation of the HK sound too bad, especially with ASD bypassed.

Is there a schematic anywhere or definition of the signals that go to the ASD harness? |

If ASD was integreated into iDrive software, then iDrive would need the sensors used to create the sound or inputs from them to process. So a separate ASD module may be a weird design, but not for the reason you state.

It would not require any sensors I'm 99% sure. Everything in the car is connected via CAN or similar serial buses. There is already proof the infotainment system has access to high frequency tachometer data via the sport displays. It would take a team a very small amount of time to write the software to.do this in another thread if the system isn't resource constrained.
