So I backed out the speed threshold setting back to stock for the anti-dazzle HB to work and I think the feature is working much better. This evening I took a drive along the same dark back roads with even more cars this time and didnt get flashed once. I could also see that the lights were functioning as intended and switching off LEDs as needed in the correct areas. Anyway, fingers crossed...working well. VLD alone seems to be great.

It makes sense now that I think about it; the faster you're traveling, the less of a change of glaring someone, as you pass them much quicker. Why I believe this also is the stock setting for the US-spec version of high beam assist full ON/OFF programming is set to kick on at a mere 25mph, which is much lower that the 43mph set for the EURO GFHB activation threshold. There my be some reasoning behind this. As I mentioned, I have mines set to shut off at 18mph and kickback on at 25mph but to honest, after the novelty wore off after I coded it a few years ago, I rarely ever use it. That and every inch of this city is covered in street lights, so it doesn't get enough of an opportunity to do its thing. You can also adjust the speed at which each sequence of the VLD programming activates and pan out but if you're happy how it's current is, then just leave it as is. Code away, as you please but just remember; with great power... |

Poochie - here's a question for you since you're the resident headlight expert.....
If you modestly lower the car (1/2 - 3/4"), will the magic Executive Package headlights compensate, or do they need to be realigned? Since the beams move all over the place, I'm not even sure where I'd start on that one. TIA-- R. |

The adaptive headlighting system also include a self-leveling system. Self-leveling headlights have an additional level sensor that determines if the car is tilted forward or back. For example, if a car is driving over a large bump, when the front of the car hits the bump, it lifts up. Standard headlights would briefly point up into the sky until the rear of the car moved over the bump and the car returned to a level position. You may have noticed this if a car driving behind you at night passed over a bump, such as a railroad crossing. The other car's headlights would flash briefly, as if the driver had blinked his or her high beams at you. This is actually the car's headlights temporarily pointing up and into your eyes instead of down at the road. With a self-leveling system, electric servomotors react to the level sensor and keep the headlights aimed down at the road, no matter the position of the car. However, although the light beam throw do level out, it's working with a set stock vehicle hight as a baseline, dropping the vehicle's chassis might throw off this set adjustment parameters. There is a vertical and horizontal adjustment screw in each headlight, after major suspension modifications, I would suggest you have them checked to ensure it's not glaring anyone. . |

May I suggest the 'Rear fog light' mod..
It has a practical purpose but it also works very well as a deterrent for when some mouth-breather chooses to dangerous ride your back bumper. A chronic problem in my neck of the woods.. Rear Fog Light Mod For US Spec Cars https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1450178 |

this thread is gold. my wife has a 2005 E46 ZHP 6MT that has 190k. She loves that car, but I told her that the MT is going away, so she better think about buying something new, like asap.
We tried to find and order a M240i 6MT in December but were unsuccessful on both fronts. there were a couple of 6MTs in Socal, but we were unwilling to travel and they were unwilling to transfer. so we found this black 2021 M2C 6MT. it's really hers, but she insists on calling it ours. 950miles on it now. Still drives her ZHP, too. She test drove a 230i 6MT and was almost disgusted by the lack of power comared to her ZHP even though on paper, the numbers are similar. she needs that 6-cylinder torque. Awaiting production of my M2C Sunset Orange, DCT with moonroof and exec pack. Ordered from dealership in Virginia April 2. "Production begins" April 13. As of today, April 27, 800 number indicates production will be complete April 29. Earlier, same number predicted production will be complete April 27, then April 28.
This kind of slippage normal? |
