I need some advice from you good folks.
When my car was delivered, I found some damage to my front passenger-side wheel (LHS as we're in Australia). The trucking company blamed it on the dealership and the dealer said it was the trucker's fault. It happens to be the case that the dealer was right and as such, the trucking company has accepted responsibility. I'm told, these wheels may vary in colour ever so slightly from one production batch to another. I need to know, if I change just the damaged wheel as opposed to all four, will there be any chance that the colour for the replacement wheel may be different to the other three? I'm sorry this happened to be an anti--wheel-porn post

I know people have said that, and I realize the paint is pretty funky, but the rears and fronts are different sizes, so they HAVE to be painted at different times with the way a modern assembly line would be done etc. So I can't imagine the differences are significant enough with how far apart the wheels are on the car that you'd detect it. With it being factory finish, I think it'll be fine. Someone trying to match it, do it from another source, yeah I'd be worried, but not factory sourced. There is no way they keep stock straight when shipping wheel sets etc after the fact for MPerformance etc.

The paint itself isn't manufactured by SAI, but it's mixed constantly, so any variance is minimal from batch to batch. What causes some wheels to be darker and some lighter is literally the thickness of the gold paint, and that comes down to temperature and barometric pressure, as they are all sprayed equally. In all probability he won't have a color match problem. |
