Creaky Seats?

Anyone else with their seats creaking while driving, both of mine have become annoyingly loud. It feels like they forgot to put felt lining on the removable back plastic piece and it's rubbing quite loudly. Always weary of taking this to a dealer as they may end up causing more harm than good.

I have a slight creak in my drivers door panel and another near the dome light. Like you, I doubt a dealer tech could R+R either and leave me with a more solid install. It's only noticeable with radio off, windows down, no conversation, no engine noise....that's almost never how I drive. I'll live with it.

No creaks yet, but this car is too expensive for squeaks and rattles in my opinion. I'll take mine in if they start to show up.

I haven't heard one from mine. My motorhome is a different story though

Solid as a rock down here. Just like my M2C was at 27 months old. I seem to be very lucky with rattles.

My shop (not a dealer) said it looks like adding more foam between the back of the seat and the plastic piece that clips over it would do the trick.

Took it to the dealer and other than a 10-mile joy ride they fixed nothing, still very creaky. Their write-up was entertaining as it made no sense, granted this is the same dealer that told me the flywheel was leaking on one of my past cars...

I have this identical issue. It's 100% from the back of the drivers seat.

I have a service appointment in two weeks time to take a look.

Would you mind sharing your dealer write up?

Ah, I had to open the side via browser to see the attachment. For whatever reason it doesn't show in app.

I have noticed the frequency / volume of the squeaks correlates with the temperature. Is this true for you as well?

Hmm, it just seems consistent for the most part to me

My comp had this problem, really annoying. Must of the time it was the console where bolsters intruded. The CS has a good size gap and obviously no console. I figured that wouldn't happen, guess not.

Yes mine also creaks, having it looked at during break in.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I've noticed creaking too when I don't have the radio up loud, which is almost never so pretty much when the wife is in the car with me. I thought it was rubbing the center console but now I wonder if it's the seat back. I'll have to mention it next time I'm in for service.

So far mine has been fine. My M3 CS door frame creaked like no other. Sounded like walking in some old hard wood floors.

I have the creaking too at my passenger seat. If I move the seat back a bit (1/2 inch) the creaking reduces. Moving another (1/2 inch) totally silenced it. I'll live with it and won't complain to my dealer. I may look into this myself when I have the mood.

I took my car in for a bulb replacement at another dealer years ago, not the one I got my BMWs. They broke a couple of mounting hooks on the light fixture and I only notice that months later. It was clearly caused by opening the hook carelessly using a screw driver or something. A friend of mine, who works in a Merc dealer as a tech, also said that German car manufacturers nowadays use a lot of plastics and rivets and hooks instead of screws for fastening cosmetic parts. That causes rattling sometimes. If we bring our cars in for that, they may or may not fix the one in question. But it is very likely that they break a few others. So he doesn't recommend me bringing the car in for small rattling and fix it myself if I can.

After oil change on my F80, I also notice about 4 - 5 rivets missing on the rubber covers over the carbon fiber strut brace. Of course I found that out a few months later as well. I'll bring my M2 CS in for the 2000km run in service this Friday. I'll definitely pop open the hood and inspect as much as I can after the service before leaving the dealer.

Wait so if I bring this to my dealer will the tech know what to fix? I have the same issue with MY21 Comp. I brought it in once already to have it fixed, and it seem to fix the creaking for maybe a day or 2 but it came back.

There’s another forum that talks about a part 52-10-7-285-859 Electrical Seat Mechanism, L: 521050 as well as 4 07-14-9-321-690 Fillister-Head Screw: 889520 which fixed the problem.
