Intake filters were only a restriction on the non M sport package n55's where bmw put a thick cotton or charcoal layer on the bottom of the filter to improve filtration:

Non M sport pack filter: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-mann-par...718616909~man/

M sport pack and M2 filter: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-2...30-335i-335xi/

If you look at the images the filter in the m2 is the non charcoal layer version so it has all the restriction removed. So those dyno charts you see with high flow drop in filters are likely to be compared against the charcoal variant filters so you see a gain there. While in reality there will be no gain on a stock filter vs. a drop in "high flow filter" (so just a sneaky tactic to try and show power gains) : this thread (https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1661597) proves it post #11.

that being said I came from sti's too and I do not miss the $900 protunes for every single mod.
How about changing intakes on s55 already flashed to bootmod3 91 stage 1 outs. Can just replace and not worry about anything?

Depends on how sensitive your maf sensors are. From what I have seen the s55 is not as problematic as the n55.

No m2 and m performance and mppk models have the non charcoal filter version.

The stock sport line f30 n55 has the charcoal filter. Also maybe really dusty climate cars have them too.

The m2's n55 has the pinnacle of bmws n55 technology, best possible air filter, and best possible air bok design with the cut out bottom silencer section.

Interesting Dinan leaves the bottom of the stock air box and replaces the top to get more room for their larger filter

I do like the look of their intake just hard to say if makes ANY improvements in power over the stock air box

Not anymore. The original creator has removed the free access link and has it for sale now so I cannot share the file I have anymore.

I have no idea, but I found this guy who has made one for the F30 (it should also fit the m2 - idk about the m2c though), and he posted the file up for free:
