Portland Snow

Not much of a snow yet! I have the day off and seriously considering taking the car out for a little bit to introduce the silly blue thing to snow. Hmmm...

Happy Friday, Northwesterners!

Mine is just sitting in the driveway. Snow should be gone on Monday.

Snow turned to ice, so my hoped-for experiment with the DWS06's was cancelled. First lesson we learn in the Midwest when it comes to this stuff - know when to stay the heck home. My SO got his 530e home ok, but two of our neighbors had incidents within walking distance of the house.

Oh, and other than the last two days:

The Conti's have been fantastic with the weather that we've had. No traction issues on wet roads, they don't tramline at all, and performance has been acceptable for their intended use. I would absolutely call them my favorite "no season" tires that I've had the chance to test.

Looking good up there! We got about 8” here. Please be careful if you have to head out. There are a lot of people in PNW with very little snow driving experience.

We made a trip to the store in the 530e (X-drive). The Hankook AS tires are pretty awful snow tires, but I enjoyed getting to drive it in the snow (this is it's first winter). Saw a pickup truck slide half-way across the Fred Meyer parking lot after trying to take off hard...thankfully he didn't hit anything.

I love snow in the PNW. Pure comedy (except when folk get hurt, of course). If we ever move somewhere with more regular snow, the SO is getting a winter wheel set for his birthday or something.

The nice thing about snow in the Pacific Northwest is that it will be all gone in a few days.

Is that hockenheim silver?! Mine looks a bit more gray against the snow but nothing like that.

Yeah. I wonder if it was just weird lighting or one of those optical illusions where a color looks different when placed next to a different color.

It's normally very normal looking ...... I think 🙂

I escaped out of the house! Main streets were fine, side streets were covered in mush. The DWS06's had no issue with the mushy-not-really-snow-anymore stuff.

Getting back up my driveway was VERY interesting, but I got her into the garage without doing any damage. I swear to the gods above and below that I will actually buy a snow shovel before next year. I've been meaning to since we moved in 4 years ago...

As soon as you buy the shovel, all of the winter weather will go away! I bought a shovel about 4 years after I moved here, mostly to satisfy my desires for a clean driveway.
The roads are nearly all clear in my area already.

We still have lots of slush in my area. The road currently looks like a one lane road.

My SO bought a snow shovel on the way home from work and presented it like a prize. I didn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes...it's a shovel that you'd buy so that your 7 year-old can help you with the driveway. He's a smaller human and said the other ones were too heavy for him.

I'd break my back leaning over to use the little thing, but I guess he can shovel the drive if we get more snow...

Blizzaks + GTI = what snow? The M2C is garaged in that case.
