Tracking Aussie ordered vehicles
Hi Aussie Members,
I've recently placed an order an an M2C, and even though I've read the American/European(?) thread on tracking I can't seem to have much luck with any of the options for tracking the build. 1. The 1800 numbers don't work from Australia 2. The "My Vehicles" doesn't recognise my production number 3. I've emailed BMW Genius with no response 4. I don't want to bug my dealership all the time asking for updates.... Any advice?? |

Hi TRM2C - I had luck tracking mine from when it was on a ship onwards. Before then I used the dealer for updates.
I tried not to bug the dealer too much (easier said than done...!). Basically, the dealer gave me estimates around the expected production week. Then once built, they gave me the VIN and a shipping estimate. Using the VIN and shipping estimate I was able to confirm the spec of the car (via the VIN lookup tools), work out the shipping company, and track the boat. Once landed (and cleared customs) I was able to track via the local logistics company from port to dealer. This was mid-last year so I'm not sure how many of the shipping/logistics sites will still let you lookup via VIN (or part of the VIN...). There were a few guides buried on other Bimmerpost Aus forums, but I mainly relied upon the techniques I used when tracking my Mustang coming into Aus. Not sure if they are still live, but Mustang6G had an extensive Aus tracking thread with a lot of resources and info.

Once it hit the ship this is the company that was used, not WW
https://www.hoeghautoliners.com/my-cargo Chuck the VIN in and away you go I also used a generic ship tracking website Marine Traffic to track the ship |

It is not all bad I get to enjoy driving my current OG M2 which I still enjoy every day after more the 86,000 Km…most of these in the last 15 months with no International business travel, prior to that it spent a lot of time at airports! I also can't complain as the lease payments on the new one will be almost the same. |

Was just advised that the car is being loaded today so will know the ship shortly...still an average of 45 days normally for shipping, then PPF and Ceramic coating when it arrives.

I know I will miss the OG M2, I do like that it is a little "old School" and a bit "raw" and I love the sound, but it was an easy decision to go the comp when the current lease was expiring. |

I have Opticoat on the current OG M2 and the car still looks great after more than 4 years and 92,000KM including a large number of country trips. The reason for adding PPF is that the front can best be described as having a sandblasted look and feel. Both cars are a company provided lease but the plan is to buy this one at end of lease (last of the DCT), so another reason for me to pay to protect it. |

I am only thinking about getting the PPF bra .
Scratches and scuffle on bumper is hard to fix even for the professional. Any good recommendation for Sydneysider for PPF ?? |

I really should have said nothing...had a call yesterday to tell me they found some minor issues when detailing the car that could not be fixed at the dealer so it is off to the body shop!!! After almost 9 months what is another few days...back to the OG M2.

I can confirm Apple Car Play is now full screen, not having it in my last one I probably won't use it anyway. Now for PPF and Ceramic so I will lose it for the next 3-4 days. Funny, first thing my wife said was to paint the muffler...LOL. |
