Picked up my M2C LBB (6MT)

After months of trying to get an allocation in the Portland area, I found the build I was looking for in Seattle. Picked up a LBB, manual, exec package, and moonroof. Only things I would have changed were the wheels to black. It has the MPE which I wasn't looking for either but after hearing it and revving in efficient vs. sport plus, I was sold. Drove 20 miles through side roads to a family members house and put on XPEL Tracwrap for the drive home. Waiting till mid January for ppf, ceramic, and tint. I have the M Performance carbon grille, gills, mirror caps, and diffuser to put on till then. Super excited right now.

Has anyone had a slight burning smell on their new M2? I noticed it after the first 20 miles and it was less when I got down to Portland. Dealer told me it was normal, mixture of Cosmoline burning off and new brakes. Checked under the hood and car and all is good.

I know what you’re talking about with the smell. I still get it a bit, and I’m at 2k miles.

Congrats and welcome. Is it an auto or manual

The wheel is a quick fix, you can powdercoat them to the color of your choice, although I have black forged ones its actually 2 toned black and would powdercoat them to gloss black sometime.

Nice! I actually think the bicolor looks better on LBB gives a nice contrast.

After the drive home, I parked in the garage, shut the garage door. Went into the garage 10min later and damn near gagged. So much new car fumes I had to reopen the door for a bit.

503 Motoring in Beaverton, OR. Checked out other places but liked their reviews. They are doing some tire mount work for me as well. I'm putting the stock PSS on 763M wheels and PA4s on the stock wheels. Hopefully I don't get tire rub like others have.

First off congratulations and welcome to the PDX M2 LBB club. I’m getting a full car XPEL Ultimate Plus wrap next week. I got quotes from all the authorized XPEL shops in the area including 503. Don’t get me wrong 503 is a good shop, but they wanted $2k more than the guy I’m using and would have used a kit for the bumper. Pays to shop around.

Thanks! I did see one for sale at Portland BMW before it arrived but got taken off quickly. Another one in Tri Cities BMW as well, that would have been a nice drive back home.

I agree they are expensive. Elite Window Tinting was another shop I talked to that seemed to do great work. I'm just doing the full front but they offered me a discount on all 3 services. Any downsides to using a kit for the bumper besides exposed edges? I heard some customize the pre cuts to minimize this. I can call them again to ask.

Glad this is a normal thing. Reminds me when I was learning to drive manual in my truck and I reversed up a hill. I'll never forget the smell of clutch burning.

Congrats on your new ride!
That's a LOT of Trak wrap, and those things weren't cheap!
I taped up mine in blue painters tape and crawled across town straight to the PPF installer when I got mine lol.
You'll enjoy her!

Yeah I talked to David P. about that car. Unfortunately it is a priority 2 car and he wasn't allowed to make a deal on it at all. I have bought multiple cars from David so I know this wasn't him trying to gouge. I think you'd be lucky getting that car at MSRP. When I told him I had an offer from an out of state dealer giving close to 10% off he told me to take it immediately as there was no way he could get even close to that number on that car.

Yeah the main downside is that the kits are cut in a way that doesn't allow to hide all the edges. Custom bulk install can look cleaner if you have an installer that knows what the heck they are doing.

Nice savings. Which shop are you using?

Car looks awesome! I was worried about the smell too. I'm at 1800 miles and it doesn't smell that much now.

Thanks! Yes, it wasn't cheap. I spent $200 on Amazon for it but the peace of mind was worth it. Bumper took forever to cover and sprayed water to help. Car will pretty much sit until mid January for the actual PPF. Installer said I could leave it on till then, hopefully it peels off easy.

Congrats that's literally the perfect spec in my opinion.

It's so rare to find such a car in the Seattle area, that too in a loud color and manual transmission. Great luck.

Nope, never been to Irvine. I've been stuck in the PDX metro for a couple of decades now.

Great job you did there.
Yeah, leaving them on for an extended period of time is no concern.
I immediately had my fronts, rockers, partial roof done, but left the rear fenders out.
Once I found out how much rocks were thrown at it, I wrapped the rear fenders in Trak wrap for several weeks before I could bring the car in for a proper PPF installation.
No issues whatsoever. Probably why it's so darn expensive.

Again, contrats! So much mods already!!
