I was 23 when i got that car. Priorities where different...
have a look at this: http://bmw.houbi.ch/highend.htm this is what you do when you want the absolute maximum sound quality (not loudness...). I am 37y old and still have a better hearing than the avarage 18y.

I‘ve changed in the past 15 years.... certainly WON‘T put that much extra weight in a car for audio or anything else..... today I am much more focused on driving, not much more on multimedia (in a car)...

Still my nature is very extreme... perfectionis describes me very well. so for high-end audio this is what i use today, sitting in a nice chair and completely focusing on the music: https://pdf.highend-audiopc.com/reference-system.pdf

I got a brand new E46 330Ci 17 years ago. I still have mine; I'm too attached to sell mine. I feel bad that I don't drive it as much as my M2 though.

My e46 330ci is now on 180k miles. It's had most of the signature weak spots (cam cover gasket still needs doing), but is rot free and fun to drive.
