I am 68 and my wife is 61. We have two cars and a house with Safeco. Live in suburbs of St louis. Insurance is $500 collision, $250 deductible. Wife drives a 2019 Acura RDX and I have the 2019 M2C. Last year insurance for wifes car was just over $1000 and mine was just over $2000. This year they are both around $1050. We also get low mileage discount. I was pleasantly surprised when mine went down this year. It was not because of accidents or tickets coming off either. I just figured maybe the M2 drivers have less claims than originally planned for. I was also told by my agent that Safeco had a new program we qualified for, but I have no idea what that was.

Years back I got the “safe driving”, “secured garage” and “low mile” discount at State Farm and it cut my rate in 1/2. It did this with a Porsche 911 and now the M2C. I think owners of these luxury performance cars statistically baby them and don’t make claims. As far as I can tell, theft seems to be the biggest issue with why rates are high for some and that’s for people that live around the city. Believe it or not, credit score makes a difference too.

Looking at my policy the only thing I am being charged more then my other cars is Comprehensive and Collision replacement, so I would have to assume the cost of parts and/or replacement of the vehicle is their reasoning for the higher rate.
