M Control Academy

Has anyone done this with BMW? I know this is not M driver school, but do they actually teach you some cool skills? Worth the $250?

Thanks

M CONTROL ACADEMY
Experience the brute force and flawless functionality of the M lineup for yourself. For $250 you’ll spend half a day under the guidance of a BMW Professional Driving Instructor as you’re guided through every detail of such dominant machines as the BMW X3 M Competition, the BMW X4 M Competition, the BMW X5 M Competition, and the BMW X6 M Competition. Enjoy a range of activities, from slalom to skidpad, that will leave you with a whole new definition of what it means to drive.

Yeah, that's the other thing....

But still wondering if the experience is good. If so, $250 is worth it

If you really try, you can do all of the activities on a test drive. Save $250 AND get to scare a salesman. Win win!

$250 to hoon a bunch of expensive M series BMWs on the track? Sounds like fun to me!

Is it at Spartensburg? I did 1M delivery there. The track is really small but still fun.

Guess it depends on how much freedom you have to enjoy the cars and how much $250 is worth to you.

That part is unclear. All I have is the description above, and its half day.

Someone I know did this in Spartanburg. Was X vehicles only.
Described as "fun for the person that gets a rise out of going 10mph above the speed limit on the interstate."
You'd likely be better off just joining your local SCCA autocross for a season at that price.

This isn’t done on a track. And with all XMs I can’t believe it would be a lot of fun.

I did a similar one last summer, the M Car Control Clinic. From their promotional e-mail:

BMW's Ultimate Driving Experience is coming to San Francisco. Claim your spot at the M Car Control Clinic, a full day of adrenaline-induced thrills. For $750, you will get to push some of our highest-performing vehicles, the BMW M2 and M4, to their absolute limit and take part in activities such as slalom and high-speed skids—all of which promise new levels of driving skills.

So - not the same cars, not the same price... but it sounds similar.

It was set up in a big parking lot. One instructor/car per two people. Two groups of maybe 10 people each alternated between M2Cs and M4s.

M2C: slalom, rapid lane change at ~50mph, rat race, laps around a "track" set up with cones
M4: braking/stopping distance exercises, laps
3 series: donuts and figure-8s with plastic covers on the rear tires to reduce traction

Was it worth $750? Sure. It was a lot of fun. I got some voucher afterward for $1000 off a new BMW that I never used... it explicitly excluded the M2 Competition.

I waited about 6 months and then ordered one anyway. My SO M2C should arrive this month. So hello everyone.

I think this is exactly it. Thank you for your input
