BMS clutch stop = awesome

Put in the BMS clutch stop, o - m - g. I loove, love, love it. Install took 2 minutes; remove two 10mm bolts with a socket wrench and pull the panel partially down. You don't need to remove the driver-side kick panel. You can see the stock clutch stop, its puny. Pull it out by hand. Stick in the BMS one.

1) I used 2 of the 3 shims provided (they were all the soft type, not the hard metal washers). Feels great, I don't think I'd want to put in the 3rd one. your milage may vary
2) engagement point is now 12-14mm off the floor instead of 35-ish mm
3) haven't had it in bad traffic, but I could already tell it will be somewhat of a relief from the dramatic decrease in leg work
4) no problems with full clutch disengagement, no problem with cold/hot start
5) maybe its placebo, but rev-matching for yourself even feels more fun with the decrease in pedal travel

totally worth the 10 bucks to try. if you don't like it, sell it to another forum member for $5 haha

ORDERED! Awesome find. Thanks! This clutch travel is WAY beyond the point of engagement.

We did this about 200 miles in and it was well worth every penny.

Huge difference. Actually no panel removal is necessary. Located stock stop under the flexible shield, reached in and pulled it out, stuck the new one in. Easy peasy.

So, this is a true newb question, but where exactly does this product stop the action of the pedal? Some distance after the engagement point that is shorter than stock?

yup, this has been sitting around for a while in my toolbox. This works great, super easy to install, used all three shims to really get the full benefit of decreased pedal travel.

While I never really pushed the pedal to the floor to shift, this now provides a real floor to the level of where my foot pushes the pedal (no empty floor feeling any more).

+1 just get a flashlight and shine it up behind the rubber flexible shield/trip that surrounds the pedals. The factory clutch stop is a white round rubber nub. Just yank it out and then push the BMS one in fairly hard and it will pop in.

I just installed mine. It literally took me 30 seconds. You don't even need to remove any trim like BMS says to. Just stick your hand through the little slit in the rubber shield on the underside of the dash where the pedal goes through and you can feel the OEM stop, just pull it out and stick in the BMS counterpart. Super easy. I used all three shims. I haven't driven the car yet but I definitely notice a difference just by depressing the clutch pedal.

Are there any errors or issues that pop up? I remember reading somewhere that occasionally the car doesn't want to start when the clutch isn't fully depressed to its OEM position

Just installed . Put on 20 miles. Feels really good. I used all three shims. Is there a reason not to use all 3?

So maybe it's me but I don't notice any real difference. I never pushed the clutch down all the way to begin with as I knew where the clutch engaged. I was expecting some miraculous difference, oh well......

I drove without a clutch stop for years in my e36. Installed one, drove it for a while longer, got used to it. Then it broke. That's when I really noticed a difference.
However, I did buy a BMS unit...still waiting for M2 to arrive at dealership.

Probably overkill on this subject at this point, but I just installed mine, and this is exactly right. No need to remove anything to get to it. In fact, after looking at this link to know what I was looking for - http://www.burgertuning.com/clutch_stop_BMW.html - I didn't even have to see it. I just felt behind the clutch through the rubber flaps, yanked out the factory stop and then pushed in the BMS one. Really couldn't have been easier. Best $10 mod ever?
