Hey Guys-
I have been debating on changing my M2 competition wheels to something different. But I feel like this is going to end up being an iconic car over the next 10 years and I've been trying to figure out ways to tastefully modify the car- where the car still has that classic BMW look. I'm thinking of keeping the competition wheels on the car and doing four layers of ceramic coating to protect them how do you guys feel about the M2 competition wheels as a classic BMW wheel? |

I think original wheels only matter in big dollar super cars, your F40s, diablos and the like. |

I prefer the 763M over the 788M Competition wheels..
They look hot, they're full forged and weighs about 6lbs lighter than the stock wheels. That makes a discernible difference in speed and handling. BMW M Performance 763 M Wheels Specs https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1369225 |

Never liked the competition wheels when they first debut, but now that they've been our for a while I still don't like them.

The competition wheels are fully forged and they are very distinctive in design the ones on my car are very dark with black barrels.
I'm in the process of dialing in my car correcting the paint and switching things up from IND. I love how glossy the wheels are I know if I did 4 coats of ceramic it would make the wheels even more shiny. |

I think that the OG M2 wheels look much better than the Competition wheels.

I'm on the boat of keeping it OEM no matter how much attracts me another aftermarket wheel.
I think that 359 would be perfect on the M2 but since they are not one of the standards, I wouldn't change it to them. Also have to say that now I really like blacks 788 but once there, I'll get 763's since are still "official options" and weight less even though I still believe that on a BSM maybe it's missing some contrast like gunmetal color could give to it. |

I think 763s will be highly sought after in 10-15 years. They look great, factory BMW equipment, are lightweight and best of all they are easy to keep clean. He’s mine in satin black. I’m not sure if satin or gloss would be better. They started life in gold but I just couldn’t do it.

My issues with the 788's are: 1.) I. HATE. CLEANING. IT. I would Ceramic Coat it.....but... 2.) I'm still not in love with the "squared" off mesh pattern. They look fine, but they never really "wowed" me. Quote:
Aftermarket wise, I haven't really seen any that really suits the car that well to be honest. That and I'm weird and much prefer really nice OEM's. Quote:

They wouldn't even make the top 10 of BMW wheel designs. I'm not offended by them but they don't really do anything for me. I'd take a set of 359M or E36 LTW wheels over any of the modern stuff.
Richland Forged do a version of the 763M's called the RF-GT4 with better offsets, cheaper, bigger color selection, and they are still forged and lightweight. If I wanted a nice set of street wheels this would be my pick, 'OEM+'. |

You are right. The 788 are a classic BMW looking wheel. They look far better in real life than in photos. Actually, you could say this about the whole car. And say the same about HS colour as well.
You could keep them in storage though. |

I love the stock wheels but find them difficult to clean. I would prefer a different rim purely for ease of cleaning.

Pretty much every single wheel vendor let me down once I decided to actually spend the money to buy new wheels (no one had a full set in stock...I paid for a set, the vendor failed to actually get a hold of them, and I had to wait through PayPal's long refund process to get my money back). I like the 763M's a lot, but I'm not running Sport Cup 2's in Portland. We have too many months of rain. I checked with multiple BMW dealerships to see if I could get 763's put together with PS4S's, but the price was terrible and then they didn't have any PS4S's anyway...I wasn't going to pay over $5k and end up with MPSS's again. "Buy them bare and then get tires from Tire Rack" - I don't have enough time during business hours to deal with this, and then we ended up in lock down. Also, the only car I have to transport wheels is my M2C, which seems like a pain so I just never got around to it. It is possible that I could get my SO to help me with the compromised 530e trunk (it's smaller than you'd think with the battery in there), but he's insanely busy too. "Ceramic Coat them!" - I've never done it. I don't want to experiment by myself, and I ran into the business hours issues leading up to pulling my winter set off. My other issue buying another set of wheels is that BMW changed the wheel bolt pattern on the G-chassis cars. Anything we buy for this car is useless on the next car. These stupid brakes that we couldn't avoid in the US are the real problem, of course. We'd have a lot more options with the perfectly function smaller blue caliper brakes. |

1. Jet spray with water first. 2. Use Megiuars NXT car wash with double dose in the bucket. I use this on the whole car amazing product. * https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/...re/104050.html When you use the NXT car wash use a gorilla glove on the wheels. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/...ve/373410.html 3. Jet spray with water after leaving time to soak. 4. Dry with a microfibre cloth dedicated only to wheels. 5. Admire the beauty of the wheels. 6. When finished apply Meguiars NXT tyre shine. Visually finishes everything off by optical deceit shrinking the tyre by making it very black. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/...5g/119502.html *Step 2 really repels brake dust on subsequent washes. Result is total beauty. |
