Tpms m2 comp brand new false alert

Good day

Curious to find out if anyone had issues with false alerts on TPMS

- first alert - tire pressure all normal
- second alert - back tires around 2 psi lower

between the 2 about 600km done

vehicle only used on weekends therefore could the drop on back tires be due to
inactivity

run flats

Hmm. Never heard of an M2 coming with run flats.

A drop of 2 psi isn’t anything to worry about. I would watch the tire and if it continues to lose pressure then I would take it to a tire store..

Normally all tires lose some pressure but all would be down 1 to 2 pounds. Only one losing pressure usually means a nail somewhere in the tire.

You can pull up the tire pressures to monitor them closely while driving and see which one(s) are low.

I'm assuming South Africa is getting cooler weather. Tire pressures can drop enough between summer heat and and winter cold enough to set off the alert.

Early on in my ownership my car had a low pressure alert on a 200 mile road trip. I pulled into a service station and checked the pressures. They were all good so I reset the pressures and went about my way. I actually never thought about it again until now. It had never resurfaced (in like 6 months.)

Since you are working with small numbers (1-2psi) and changes or stability over time, you need to verify your gauge. Absolute accuracy is not as relevant, but reliability is. Does your gauge have a reset function? if so, make sure to reset first. Then do a basic reliability check: carefully take 10 separate readings of the same tire, separated by just a few minutes. If these readings aren't w/i a pound of each other, your gauge is unreliable and needs replaced. If only some tires are losing pressure very gradually, you may have a very mild seepage at the bead or stem - your call whether it is worth it to have it fixed but it shouldn't cause problems if you keep pressures where they belong. Sometimes these will 'fix themselves' with driving. But don't neglect a good visual check of the tires with soapy water; unlikely but not impossible to pick up 2 nails in 2 tires; unlike bead seepage, punctures should be repaired from inside, or replaced. I think the ballpark is that tires can lose a pound a month just diffusing thru the rubber, but mine lose less than that.
