That looks amazing!

I wouldn't want that color leather either, but this really gives a good idea of what M seats would look like in the M2 Competition.

That looks good, but the option in the M2 comp will be orange stitching, not a full SO interior as shown.

Stitching option will be either the default blue contrast stitching or a new option for orange contrast stitching. There will also be an option for M Sports Seats. Contrast stitching will not apply to the optional M Sports Seats.

I log on and check these forums at least one(some times 5) time a day. I always superstitiously look away until the page completely loads. I look at the number of pages hoping to see that they have markedly increased since the last time I looked. Every once in a while tidbit will leak while I've been away on business and i get excited to see 3 new pages of replies. Alas, no real news.
Need some news! Im blowing money on guns and an investment property....hurry up BMW!!!

This is the day that the guy in the UK is supposed to get M2 Competition ordering info from his dealership.

On 09.01.2018 he will provide me with M2 Competition conditions/configuration.
Then information should be official."

Konditionen/Konfig für M2 CP will er mir am 09.012018 geben.

That would mean within three weeks from now.

Let's wait and see if this turns out to be accurate or not.

Is that the one with a Carbon Fibre roof and improved interior?

Hope it is, holding off an M3 CP purchase for news of M2 CS/Competition.

I’ve been on here in the background since the first M2 mules ever appeared on the ring, wasn’t overly impressed so bailed and I’m now on my second F80, this could finally be the car to tempt me into M2 ownership

I've been coming here since before I joined (2006), I was a lurker for a while before that.

Been through the agony of the launch of a brand new model (the 1er), a brand new M car (the 1M) and now what could be my latest purchase. Hoping it's not too expensive.

As it's quiet and I've been lurking for some time now, my speculation, just for fun, is:

- M2 Competition price will be +10% over the current M2 price
- M2 Competition S55 will be physically detuned (i.e. not just detuned through the engine management computer) to increase differentiation in the power unit from the M4. E.g. smaller turbo.
- M2 CS will have rear seats, just the same as the M4 CS does
- M2 CS will be +40% over the current M2 price. I'd expect consistency with what's happened with the M4 CS both in terms of price increase and in terms of power, handling and body changes.

Total guesses on my part. However I'd expect a company like BMW to have marketing teams who like consistent stories across product lines. So I'd be surprised if we couldn't figure out a lot about the M2 CS features and pricing based on the M4 CS features and pricing.

Hopefully they don't consider the US launch of the M4 CS as a "new car release"

Noticed that 8 additional USA-spec entries have popped up in a public BMW VIN decoder: see here.

Peculiarity: now two different codes are shown for the optional all-new Y-spoke forged 19" 788M wheels (maybe a different finish: black and silver ?):
  • option code 2QT: 19"m Law.ý-sp.788 M For. Mt. (19"m Lmr Y-sp.788 M Ge. Mb)
  • option code 29U: 19"m Law.ý-sp.788m For.mt.black (19"m Lmr Y-sp.788m Ge. Mb Schwarz)
Attempt to understand the wheels choice on the basis of those VINs:
LMR = Leichtmetallräder = leight(weight) metal wheels | Ge. = geschmiedet = For. = forged | Mt. and Mb = (likely) matte | Schwarz = black.
EDIT: Mb and Mt. = "Mischbereifung" = mixed tyres

Compare with stock double-spoke 19" 437M wheels = code 2VZ: 19"lt/aly Wheels Do.sp. 437 M/mt Bl (19"m Lm Raed.doppelspei. 437 M/mb S).

Everyone that has been asking the past couple of days has been told that there are no new M2 alocations in pipeline after March build dates. (Which dealers already had in their systems.)

With that said, all M2's are spoken for. (Either sold, en route to dealer, or scheduled to be built). Can we see the competition now. Show us these 788's (with cup2's please), show us the car and show us Hockenheim Silver!!! We know we will be waiting for the cars, but let us get the specs in order.

Noticed half of them list "+orange" with the colors name. Guessing that's possibly for the interior contrast stitching?

Also noticed that you can see the outline better for the new front bumper on this pixelated exterior pic of Sunset Orange, perfectly lining up with the front bumper as illustrated here.

If I add "+orange", I mean that the VIN specifies that the car features the orange contrast stitching (likely the 'Kyalami Orange' that was also used inside the 1M). Only few cars seem to feature this color stitching (9 out of 32). If it ain't added, the car has the well-known 'Polar Blue' contrast stitching.

Remember: Black Dakota Leather upholstery possibilities:
  • LCNL = plain leather + blue contrast stitching (Leder Dakota/schwarz Kontr.blau)
  • LCNZ = plain leather + orange contrast stitching (Leder Dakota/schw./kontr.orange)
  • MDB2 = perforated leather + blue contrast stitching (Led.dak.des.perf.schwarz/blau)
  • MDOE = perforated leather + orange contrast stitching (Led.dak.des.perf.schwarz/orange)
Seats:
  • Sport Seats Front Driver/Passenger = stock (code 481)
  • M Sports Seat = optional (option code 712)

After googling Bmw option code 712 I found this option code list from way back in 2009 and it lists code 712A as M sports seat even then.
