Not sure about your math... $20K CDN would be about $16K US, so that would work out to US$70K.

Your math is correct, but I added a correction factor for the additional taxes that the Canadians have to pay in their base price as well. If you translate directly dollar CAN to dollar USD it's not the same. Their auto taxes mess up the direct currency translation and I was compensating for that.

My impression is we'll hear about the M2 Competition before we see anything regarding the CSL. Wouldn't be surprised if that's still a ways out. Just my 2¢

I'm surprised BMW isn't changing their mind about having a competition and a CS. Check all the option boxes on Competition, throw in some door sill plates and a rear badge, add $10k. I'm being funny, but I couldn't help myself after seeing the m3cs door sills.

You would think they would want to leave the line-ups the same in each of the M models. If i am correct...
Regular
-----Competition package
CS
GTS/CSL
I know its alot to ask for, 3.5 "versions" but it makes sense!!
One for everyone's price range
If the "Competition" is a stripper, i hope it has some juicy add-on options. But there is something to be said for having a CS badge.

I agree with you. My bet is that there was not enough time to develop two different vehicles with the S55 with regard to suspension tuning and engine mapping. I wonder if the swap to the S55 was not intended at the onset of the M2.

I'll be a little disappointed if there isn't an option for an interior closer to the current CS offerings. I like the alacantra.

While I'm typing....I saw my first M2 in LBB today. It was stunning. I almost turned around to go look at it up close. I haven't seen a single picture that does the color justice. My daughter was wowed as well.

Who said they aren't. They might be having that very discussion right now.

Hopefully, we get to know soon.

If we were to speculate on difference between a fully optioned competition vs a CS. I land in a camp that believes the only difference would be the interior, and badging, beyond the upgraded seats. I guess they could throw in a new color option.

Any thoughts?

BMW.....Give us a CS option.

Well, they might as well just have the CS badge as an accessory then for those that want it so badly.

And you're in Hong Kong? Deposit for what? You are way late to the game and any dealer that is even likely to get CS allocations will be out of them before your number comes up. If you are thinking it would be for a CSL there is really no chance for that whatsoever. That is incorrect information on price given that either car is far from release. No chance the CS will be 50% more. That's totally ridiculous. The CSL, maybe, but still sounds unrealistic.

Problem with mimicking the M3/M4 lineup is the N55 M2 is ending production in June. The “base” or “regular” model will be no longer.

Essentially the Competition with the detuned S55 and new additional options, will be the de facto “base” model. The new badge and minor price increase just gives BMW an explanation to N55 owners.

We will see a CSL towards end of production as a swan song.

When will we are testing of the CSL/GTS? Or are we to assume that car is in testing along with the CS but without aero?

Any new info on that model? Seems like the information has slowed to only a trickle on the CS.

You will know. It be just like the M4 GTS mules that ran around the ring for months. It will have aggressive aero(big wing/splitter) and lower stance from most likely 3 way adjustable suspension. I wouldn’t expect to see it until closer to end of production.

There is only one dealer in Hong Kong and there isn't any demand for the m2 cs. The price is speculative and thats according to the dealer not myself. The pricing was based on how the M4 and M4CS was priced. If you take the price of the M4 (56,385GBP incl VAT) and M4CS (89,130GBP incl VAT), you see how the m4 cs has a 58.1% premium over the base m3. If based on the same pricing structure, it is actually quite a logical assumption based on existing data. (Sources: The prices of the UK vehicles are based on the RRP prices posted by BMW UK. (https://m.bmw.uk/bmw/bmw-cars/m-seri...april_2017.pdf, http://www.bmw.co.uk/dam/brandBM/mar...9333634811.pdf).

I also like to post for the purpose of increasing my post count but i also try to be helpful while i do so. Thanks

What's interesting is that, people who worked on actually building these cars still think it was the CS and not the competition. Maybe there are 2 cars which might both be released at the same time or maybe BMW just decided on waiting longer since the base M2 is doing alright against the newer competition.

Also, if there was a plan for a CSL in 2019, I would assume that they would be working on prototypes right now which they are not. The last M2 related test mules carry license plate numbers 1404 and 1405. The builds for these were completed all the way back in September and they did not get the full CSL/GTS treatment that we expect. Even the final M3 CS mule which was used for the launch video was completed over 2 months ago. Most work and test mules are around the M5.

What major shows are scheduled till mid December and in January 2018 ??
