Map 1 and 2 have small autotune adjustments like all maps. You will run up to the boost limit designated by the map. Your boost may not hit the targets. It will auto adjust and/or look at FF, PWM, FOL, IAT, avgIGN, etc to determine actual boost up to the targets designated by the map.

So the JB4 will work as it would on a normal N55, map1 will add 4psi over stock (whatever the M2 makes at that location/weather/condition) and so on. My map1 hits 18psi and spikes to 20, my Map2 18-20 as well.

Apologies Ive just been researching...I literally am leaving now to get my car which has been at a body shop for 2 months....Im installing my JB4 tomm...I meant the user definable map. Even with BMWs built in precautions....fast change in climate or quality of fuel, all it takes is one pre detonation. Im just stating the obvious. As BMS says proffessionals only.
Leaning AFR, Advanced timing, More Boost, all the things that add power increase knock potential. So some kid/man trying to add power does one of all 3...bye bye birdy lol...

At present map 1 is all that's recommended and upping boost cap beyond 18psi needs to be done do knowing that m2 charge pipe is the same as m235i. Some have failed on m235i at 17-18psi hence my words of caution for m2 users. BP

While you can do harm with map 6; it would be very difficult to do. You're right though; I've seen some scary user maps. Take it slow and do lots of reading and you should be good.
