RFT Options???

I’m in the minority here, but I’d pounce on an OEM sized Run Flat tire. So far I’ve not found a matching set from the same manufacture. Anybody have intel on a set soon to be released?

On the other hand, would a front 788 wheel fit on the back? I could get a front wheel/tire as the spare.

The reason I’m concerned, I took a trip to Rachel Nevada in the middle of nowhere and had zero cell service for the entire trip. Uneventful this time, but better to be prepared and not need it compared to the alternative.

Nothing? What about the front wheel fitting on the back?

You can use the front wheel in the back.

Also, if you're looking for some ultra-high performance run-flats, I suggest Pirelli P Zero.
It's an excellent offering and I drove home 30 miles on a flat, with one those. Good stuff.

It's has a nice, seamless drift around 40 - 70mph and I drove home 30 miles on a flat, with one those. Good stuff.
Thanks! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the RFT version is available in OEM sizes with that Pirelli model. I'll look for a single 788 front rim to build a spare kit. Maybe I could get a complete set with track oriented tires and a front for a spare in the meantime.

The car is broke in and damn! The 5500 to 7600 rpm range is awesome.

Just stay away from a Bridgestone RFT. I've known several people with bad experiences with older RE050A RFT and even newer DriveGuard RFT on a 5 series. They get sidewall bubbles incredibly easily from impacts that I am pretty sure would not damage a normal tire.

Honestly, I'd probably put a spare wheel and tire in my trunk before I switched to RFTs unless Michelin made a PSS or PS4S RFT in the right size.

If you just want an emergency spare, then any 19" 5x120PCD wheel with suitable offset will do. Preferably a slim spacesaver type then it won't fill your trunk so much!

But the reason they don't use RFTs on M cars (and many other performance cars) is because they are poor from a performance point of view.

Heavy and massively stiff sidewalls - all things that have a negative effect on suspension performance.

Every time I REMOVED the RFTs from previous cars it was like a night and day transformation in handling and ride.

I'm sure they are improving, but not that much...

I appreciate the feedback. I’ll do a spare prob. I had a couple different Bridgestone RFTs on my E93 as well as a Pirelli that came on the F33 and they were ok, but also 18s. I did blow out an RE50(?) on a pothole before. That sucked.

Thanks all. I’ll post back here once I got it all figured out and put together.
