Exhaust: Remus Race vs AA Axle Back

Hi everyone,

I have an AA Single Midpipe, not the EL one, and I want to know what the best combination is for zero drone and amazing sound for the M2C.

I had a Remus Race when I owned my first Comp a couple years ago, but it was with a stock midpipe. It was amazing and there was zero drone.

My new Comp has an AA single midpipe but stock back box (muffler).

So I’m wondering if the new AA axleback is the way to go with the single midpipe at $2,090 or do I spend another $1,000+ on the Remus?

Sounds clips would be much appreciated as well.

Thank you!

Great question topic and also interested. I currently have the AA single and remus race. I don't want to change the AA single because i love the low grunt it provides. However, I am exploring switching from the remus race to the remus sport or AA axle back only due to cold start insanity. And yes i know I can code out cold start but have carbahn stage 1 for now and don't plan on switching tune just yet.

Any sounds clips? Not too often I find someone with the single instead of EL.

Thank you!

I started with just the AA single. Great low tone. After two months I added the AA axle back. I couldn't be happier with the way it sounds now.

Sport now sounds like Sport+ used to sound. I drive through the hood in Eco then I'm in Sport+ the rest of the time.

No drone in any setting at any RPM. None of the buzzy rasp I've heard with other setups. The pops in Sport+ on high RPM throttle lift are insane. This can be coded or controlled with driving style. I just go for the pops cuz I'm a giant child.

I had the single AA mated with the AA valved exhaust.

It was very good, but on my 2nd M2C I have the AA unequal length midpipe with their valved exhaust. Huge difference!

That's as good as it gets...Pure auditory bliss. Its quiet with the valves closed, but perfect with them open. Their are sound clips of both these setups on the boards , just do a search

I'm a little confused. The single midpipe is unequal. Did you mean you went from single unequal to equal length?

95% of videos are the equal length midpipe, so it's difficult to tell what mine would sound like, as I have the single unequal midpipe.

It's a matter of personal preference. Like the H-pipe vs X-pipe argument in the V8 world.

Like an H-pipe, the AA single has a deeper, smoother tone.
Like an X-pipe, the AA EL makes a kind of buzzing sound at higher RPM.

BTW, I quit listening to music in the car after adding the axle-back.

It will take some time to edit what I have. Stock vs AA mid vs full AA.

This is what it looks like with brushed stainless tips.
I thought I wanted black but my son and a friend convinced me that my car could use some bling.

Appreciate it!

This isn't off the table. I just need to decide on my new axle back.

Good question, but there is no best exhaust. It's a matter of preference.

Both setups will sound great; REMUS and Active are the two best-sounding exhausts, in my opinion.

Sorry for any confusion. I went from the single to the Equal length pipe both had the Valved AA rear section.

I’ve heard that single midpipe is best if you have downpipes. EL sounds best by itself or with an axleback exhaust. I just experienced a resonated EL midpipe with a remus race axleback and it was godly with no rasp or drone. Check out my thread I posted yesterday for a video, I compared stock to that setup.

Catless downpipe will sound raspy with any exhaust.

Catted downpipe with the single or the resonated EL sounds a lot better.

I’ve seen a couple videos of catless downpipes paired with the EL midpipe and my god it was absolutely horrible. Sounds like a tin can civic exhaust or maybe even worse. Single midpipe sounds much better from the videos I’ve seen, less tin can rattly noises.

I'm curious, are there ANY solutions out there that don't increase rasp when it comes to downpipes? It would be a lot easier to commit to FBO and tune if it was possible to get the same exhaust note of an EL + axleback.

Catted downpipes if you are getting a full exhaust or catless + axle-back only
