It's a looooooong way across Texas if you're on I-10! Made that haul a few times.

Went on recent drive out with some friends around the Lake District. There’s dozens of photos from the day, so I’ll just share a selection. Also check out the bonus R32 GTR 👌

There surprisingly wasn’t a “welcome to Louisiana” sign the way I came in so this serves as a worthy substitute I think.
Tomorrow I’ll be passing through Mississippi and Alabama on my way to Atlanta … I guess I could go slightly out of my way to grab a “welcome to Florida” sign pic. Might as well I guess! |

Also leaving New Orleans on Monday I got hit with super super super heavy rain (doing like 30mph on 70mph highway) so not a great time to get out of the car to take pictures 😂 nismosao here’s me passing through Slidell! https://youtube.com/shorts/2nbY61cr-...ri8nOar1gdOZ6. No doubt you would have heard me say hi to your M2 if it weren’t for the rain. Yesterday I did the Tail of the Dragon which exceeded my expectations. I really really enjoyed it. Did it in both directions. I purchased a few pics from some of the photographers but am still waiting for them to be sent. Will post once they arrive. It’s so cool that’s a thing though - I wish photographers would post up on other cool roads 🤣 Today I drove 401 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville NC to Charlottesville VA. Some really scenic views but boy was it tiring driving 400 miles on mostly non-stop curvy road lol. Tomorrow is the big day where the trip ends! I’ll try to find a cool shot to mark the arrival to DC after a 2 week journey. (Then the drive back is in July. Route TBD) |

2. Honestly my cruise speeds were fairly tame like I never cruised above 87 on cruise control and some days I just preferred 75. Definitely got to some much faster speeds when passing other cars or chains of cars. My radar detector saved me at least 2 times. It would have been nice to have a seventh gear on this trip during instances where you’re just on cruise control for a few hours. This car on 6th gear is at a little over 3k rpm just doing 80. It also would have been nice to have adaptive cruise control. Without it, if you set anything above 80 you end up needing to deactivate it and reactivate it even on a 2 lane road. At 75 you rarely need to do that because it’s more rare for you to be passing others. I’ve read plenty of comments saying adaptive cruise has no place in this car because it’s a “drivers car”. Bitch please when I have a 9 hour day and have been doing “drivers car driving” for say 4 hours and then the rest of the trip is just on boring straight 2 lane highway it would be nice to just flip that shit on for a couple hours while I listen to a podcast. But anyways - F87 M2 was such a fantastic car to do this trip with. I’m planning on keeping the car long term and went into this trip knowing I’d appreciate building this memory with it. |
