Why are the wheels an option on bmwusa?

I'm at a loss as to why the wheels and tires are a selectable option on the build configurator online. Anyone know?

To make you feel all warm and fuzzy knowing your new BMW comes with free wheels...

Or it's a placeholder for when they offer another wheel option.

I suspect you're right. For the time being, anyone ordering an M2 should probably leave the box checked or risk receiving a vehicle with no wheels. -scr

Could be. The Germans are very serious when it comes to automobiles, and they might take it literally if you uncheck the little "please include wheels" box. -scr

The online form probably has a wheel box by default, so they just fill it in and check it for you.

This...

How is this even a question? It's pretty obvious that it's just the way the software works. If there are normally wheel options, they'll keep it that way even if there's only one wheel option. Keeps the system consistent.

Right, but the odd thing is that you can uncheck the box! -scr

First off, thanks SoCalRob

Second off, here is the Z4 build screen and there is no wheel selected, you can of course go in and select the "optional" 17" wheel and it will then remove the sport package. So it is weird that it is even on the M2 configurator and even more weird that you can un-check it. I also don't remember this type of option on the 1M....of course that was a long long time ago.
