What are the odds that the next version of the M2C will not be as good as the current one? I am afraid, given current trends.

And the analog part you mention almost pushes me over the edge to want a manual transmission. Even though the DCT is better for my commute and will be better if I ever track the car where I find it difficult to take my newbie white knuckles off the steering wheel.
That I dont know, the G series M2 could be a porker for all we know. Could be numb and not as fun to drive as the F series, or it could be amazing. We simply don't know.

I would 100% get a manual in this car. It deserves to be driven. Makes it even a better daily as you would actually enjoy driving as opposed to feeling like an appliance.

I'm 62 and can't wipe the shit eating grin off my face. I used to buy a car and immediately check out the stereo. In this case ... I turn it off and roll down the windows.
Don't let age be your cage!

Just to add to that last post ... I had an M4 ... downsized to an M240i. The 240i was fun but a bit too tame. Just bought the M2C after 6 months of studying reviews.
The M2C ... eclipses the enjoyment I had with the M4. All it took was one test drive ... and 6MT to boot.

To the OP, if you think you are too old for the M2C, you probably are. I'm 69 and my M2C is too tame for me. No visceral excitement so I am working on that. I came from a very modified S54 Z3M Coupé with about same HP as the M2C but delivered in a much more fun package. Before buying the M2C I test drove various P cars in the 60-75K price range and was very underwhelmed. And the age of P cars in that range was concerning in repair costs. Hopefully a Carbahn tune and some sort of exhaust package that doesn't cost an arm and leg will make make a big difference.

I hope you find something that you really enjoy!

I'm 40 now and coming from an F80 m3.

To be honest there are days when I used to take it to work and meetings that I did feel a little out of place in the vehicle.

Not sure what I would attribute it to as I kept the M2c classy (aesthetics wise) but it's only in the rare occasions when I'm meeting with much older crowd.

They were probably showing up to the meetings in something boring, like a corolla or the family suv

Well, at this period of time, I was expecting flying cars and all but I have it on good authority of which that will always be just a fantasy, so I'll settle for at least self-driving..

I would not hesitate to use the M2C for work meetings. My clients were C-Suite execs, and I always drove my M Coupe (which was my DD) to pick them up for lunch. It was a great conversation starter. And I found a common car bond with several clients.

I think the M coupe was special at another level. Gosh I wish I owned one back then...

It's great at everything, except that it's kind of a big boring family sedan. This is definitely a first world problem, but now that the Tesla tech amazingness has worn off, I just drive it around like a minivan. Whenever I hear Elon Musk talk about the next advance in self driving, rather than being appropriately excited, I think.. oh great, so we will make driving even more boring.

I test drove a M2C about a year ago and my reaction was.. "it's alive!" I loved it. But at "my age" I'm debating if an M3/M4 is more appropriate. Or even a 911, although I'm loathe to spend that kind of money on a car. Is the M2C more of a car for 20 year olds or 30 year olds? This sounds like a stupid question in my head even as I type it. But it's a thing. You know, I shouldn't be wearing skinny jeans at some point either (not that they fit me, but you know what I mean).
Are you kidding me? I'm 65 and my M2C makes me feel like I'm 16 again. Most fun you can have with your clothes on. Get one and be a kid again. You only go around once. I've owned lots of different cars in my 65 years and this one is absolutely the most fun car I've ever driven. Yahooooo!

I’m 48 and love the size of the M2C. I come from an E46 coupe and E92 and didn’t like how much the F80/82 had grown in size.

My wife calls my buddy's Tesla "an iPad with wheels."

Personally, I think it's just about as exciting as one, but he's freaking evangelical about his 3 and swears he'll never have any car but a Tesla again.

Huh.

Tesla has an apple-like cult following. They do love them, but they are looking for a tech appliance. It serves that purpose. I'm not ready for to give up the sound, smell, and feel of an ICE just yet.

This is probably the most fun new thread in the whole list of posts I regularly frequent. I loved reading all the replies, especially from all us "old guys" driving M2's.
Half the fun of getting to the half century club is being able to afford whatever you want to drive. For some folks that's the 911 as a daily driver or I'm my case the M2 as the daily driver with an i8 as a weekend car and an X5 as a winter daily driver. Although with Covid-19 making us work from home more, the daily drive might only be to Whole Foods and back for a 1/2 mile drive.
Don't drive something boring over 50. You have less years ahead of you that's behind you my friend.
Age- my favorite saying is "you are only as old as the woman you feel" and that only applies to guys! Sorry for the sexist joke.

I have a 100D as well and it's our 2nd Tesla in last 7 years.

To be honest the car is special in its own way. I wouldn't know where to start but the technology itself has its own way of making you feel like you are driving something special like a good exhaust does on a car like M2c.

Or for example on a snow day, the whole world drives around like it's chaotic out there but the lack of noise inside the Model S offers you seclusion from the outside world. Just let's you focus on the drive and the enjoy beauty of the environment.

To danf72: follow your intuition and get the M2C if there's no financial inconvenience. And maybe also throw in one of these T-shirts.

I strongly believe in these words

"Age is just a number "

Seriously I know people years younger to me feel and behave like old farts, live life like a king and enjoy it

That is some good advice! I also love all the replies. A 911 would also be super nice. But twice as expensive.
