It used to be 6 years up till about 2 years ago when they increased it to 8 years. Its due to the increased emissions standards that have been out.

I've been debating doing an AA-mid and maybe the Remus sport but I just had a [used] Dinan fall out of the sky so my choice was made for me. I'm OK that the Dinan does not match up with the AA mid so I can officially move on from exhaust shopping. And I don't want to be doing the smog test dance on another car which I have to do every two years on my S2000. If I had the tools and were even mildly mechanically competent I could do my own work which would definitely change things.

how do you like the Dinan exhaust. Any real world comments on tone under WOT and daily driving? Hows the fit and finish?

I just picked it up yesterday so right now the Dinan is sitting in the back of my truck. It was a difficult removal at the cut point - the prior owner had to go to an exhaust shop to get it torched.
My car will be interesting from a sound standpoint as I have an ASD bypass and a good deal of sound deadening.

ill be curious to see what it sounds like on the interior... the outside, I am sure sounds good but I am kinda tired of BMWs only sounding good on the outside. The first time I heard a Porsche GT car's exhaust while driving it... it changed my life! I want more of that in my beamer

Funny, at this point I was looking for an exhaust that sounds / looks good on the outside and does not intrude too much on the inside.

Who knows, once I hear all the AA EL cars running around I may decide to take the leap if I hear the right combination.
