Square Tire setup - 275/35/18

Anyone try or plan on going this route?

Yes the calipers need to go in favor of something like AP Racing, but curious if anyone is going down this path.

Is it even an option with the M2C?

Would be great to get the benefit of being able to rotate wheels/tires for track use.

I doubt you can fit that in front without rubbing. I'll let an owner chime in though.

About all you're going to get is the ability to preserve the tires a bit more.

This car already has legit stopping performance and these Michelin's are legit.

Yea, I hear you re: tire preservation which isn't a bad thing to me. I usually do two run groups per track day so it does become of value to be able to rotate mid-day sometimes.

Re: brakes - I want to pull the calipers off the car right away. One track day at Laguna and I'll have the silver of the caliper turning brown which will look bad and considerably reduce the ability for me to sell the car with them on.

Like I said, my thought was to pull the calipers, install AP Racing all around, and go to an 18" square setup for the track.

It's possible assuming you'll get rid of the silver brakes. If you look at the M2 tire subforum, many M2 owners are running 275 square for track (275/35/18 NT01s or 275//18 slicks). I'll be ordering a set of Apex wheels 18"x10" ET33 square to run 275/35/18 NT01s on my track days. Check out this thread:

I've done 3 track days with no discoloration. Do you have photos of your calipers? Curious to see how that looks.

Do we know for sure that these calipers are going to discolor? If so, how do you know that the calipers bought to replace them won't discolor? What do you look for? Or more to the point, what should I be looking for if I wanted to replace the calipers?

On my most recent Civic Type R (red brembos), middle of the 2nd track day with it I turned the red brown. With the lighter silver color, I have no doubt that I'll brown them out.

Most factory painted calipers will discolor when they get really hot. Depends on how fast you're driving on track to be the barometer if this could happen to yours or not.

This is purely a cosmetic thing - the brakes will work just fine.

Anyways - Can - thanks for your feedback - always appreciated!

I'm still waiting to see pics of this actually happening. I've seen the blues turn green, but has anyone seen these new calipers changing colors after track duty?

So far, no reports of the sliver BBK changing color after heavy-duty track usage..

However, I assume they're both made by Brembo and utilize the same manufacturing process and paint; so I'm still wary of their ability to withstand color change.

It's the same caliper, basically, just supersize with an extra piston..
