Winters not clearing

Hey guys
I just picked up a set of 18x8 +35 winter rims

But when we were installing front calipers were touching the side of the rim (not the face of the rim). I'm confused because I found some guys here that have this setup with no issues but mine doesn't fit.

Anyone have ideas? Would a spacer help at all?

Thanks

What wheels are you using? Most 18" wheels will not clear the brake calipers on the M2. It all comes down to clearance within the barrel.

Some wheels will, but you have to check first.

They are replica 359 rims. Not sure who makes them but that sounds right. Guess I need different rims.

Thanks for the response

Also, spacers "could" help But it depends on how the wheels are designed and where the calipers are hitting.

The caliper is hitting the barrel right in the middle. A rim shop just took a look and confirmed it wont fit

Yeah. That sucks.. Some rims are tapered a bit in the barrel, so you can just throw some spacers on there to clear. but it sounds like that wont work in this case without getting extremely aggressive on it.

A quick google search (meaning, please confirm) shows the 359 rims having the wrong offset. If that is the case, I'm not sure why you think they would fit?

Can you clarify what offset they were? Front and rear?

These are replica 359 with an offset of +35 (all 4) 18 x 8

They would fit but unfortunately the rim barrel does not have enough clearance which has nothing to do with the offset

I get that (sort of), but to be clear, that is the wrong offset right?

I show
ET27 front and ET29 rear

Those numbers are incorrect, it's ET29 on the front and ET40 on the rear. There's a number of offsets that fit fine, ET35 is one of them, depending on wheel width, suspension setup, camber, etc.

Those offsets will work though, Theres a specific range that will work and not cause rubbing. But the OP has other issues unrelated to offset. Barrel diameter is what he's running into, which is the most common cause of fitment issues on 18" wheels on the M2.

Right - I thought that's what we were talking about? My bad if it switched to 19s and I missed.

Like I said, I probably have not spent much time in tire forum, but I just didn't see too many people having issues with 18" wheels on the OG.

No, you're right. It just wasnt clear we were talking about OEM winters.

That being said, theres a number of offsets that will work depending on many different factors. 35 should be fine in most situations, and depending on how much poke you want.
