Your remarks about reduced fuel range: you had an N55 M2 6MT and moved on to an S55 M2C M-DCT: apart from a more thirsty engine layout (with extra 40hp & higher CO2 emission values), as regards weight, that's an 80 kg jump (25 kg difference for the transmission + remember the joke that for the M2C 'S55' also may stand for 'Supplementary 55 kg').
I hear you and thanks for watching! Perhaps I'm too old school, noting your comment "many other MODERN DAY BMW M cars". BMW has FINALLY added Brembo brakes, after years of BMW M cars having some of the weakest floating calipers around - all the way up to the E9X series at least. While Porsche had monoblock calipers for over 20 years on their cars.

I still wonder about the big deal concerning the weight. Does that mean if you have a passenger you should assume you'll get a few MPG less in fuel economy? That's what we're talking here. Even comments on ride... does your car ride significantly differently with one passenger? Not so sure.

I chuckled. Unbiased? Owner reviews? Do you honestly think someone that buys and owns a car is going to bash or give a bad review on their own car?

Liked your review, some freshness over so many repetitive reviews...Thanks!

p.s. Not pretty sure if I understood well, did you replaced your Harman Kardon speakers? If that so, why picking the option in first place? Just curious since I'm planning to get one with my M2C next year...

Really? The GIANT Lake is South Bro, everything else you can figure from there if you always remember to:

N.ever
E.at
S.oggy
W.orms

Pretty simple.

To the OP:

Thank you for the video it was informative and I learned a few things.

About your upgraded speakers. How many speakers did you replace? Was it a direct plug and play? What part numbers of the focal speakers did you use?

Lol the 500 meter tower would be the better 'beacon'.
If it's a residential area I've not been to before, in the burbs (no lake/tower) to see, and perhaps dark out....I'm pretty much going to drive around in circles for a bit lol. Let's just say, for me, gps was the best thing to come along since sliced bread!!

Appreciate the comments and thanks for watching!

There is a lot of interest in modifying the stereo! Ah, in the US, the HK system is standard equipment, rather than optional as it is in other countries. Likely that a benefit is still a better head unit to use for other speakers! You'll see the equipment I used in my build thread (I'll have to add it to a future video). I replaced ALL of the drivers in the car and disconnected the center dash speaker. Also note that these speakers are not exported to the US, so you'll need to buy them from Germany directly if you want them.

Thank you for the info. Where did you buy the speakers from? I believe you are in the US. Also did you leave the center speaker unplugged? Please post more info of what you did. I think there would be more interest if you do. You certainly got my attention.

Wouldn't be right not to refer to the compendium of stereo mods for the 2 series; it's a long one:

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1236238

If you don't want to suffer through that entire thread, I detailed my stereo on my build page. It was a great DIY install and well under $1000. Many suggested the subs don't make a big improvement, I found they really helped a lot. Oh, for the source of the equipment, I ordered from Extremeaudio in Germany. For a foreign buyer, they provided great customer service, even let me return something.

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...06&postcount=6

And the full thread on my car mods on my OG 2017. I'll be doing a video with more details and you can also check my build thread on my competition:

It's big enough to actually get lost in places here. The problem is nobody under 35 knows East from West.

Really thought there were several things I missed in the first video, so put together another video. Look forward to doing one on mods! I'll add here, but might start another thread. Enjoy!

I say OG M2 with a tune (maybe Dina stage 2). Save yourself 20K. IMO M2C is not 20K better than the OG m2. No way.

Informative video. Did you say the outside temperature was about 44 degrees?

Be careful of this: As ambient temperatures get colder, typically in the 40-45° Fahrenheit range, summer performance tires lose a noticeable percentage of traction as their tread compound rubber properties change from a pliable elastic to inflexible plastic. The tire industry uses the term "glass transition" to describe the temperature where a summer performance tire's grip/slip performance changes dramatically.

On top of this you will get micro cracks in the tires and this will definitely spoil your day.

Thanks for the tips, but I have Michelin Pilot Alpins on the car! I’m running the 437s as winter wheels.

Good choice in a winter tire.

Great videos! Actually the first source of info I came across that mentioned the M2c steering wheel being thinner than the M2 wheel, and also the adjusted electronic steering programming returning the wheel to centre, different from the OG M2.

I am useless with technology, so I plan to ask the BMW genius guy/gal to program my buttons for me. What do you use/recommend (besides the TPMS -nice!)?

Thanks for the videos!

Perhaps some don't know you can also program dialing a specific phone number? One touch dialing of your significant other! I also programmed the performance screen on a preset. I haven't done this, but it might be possible to program navigation home on a preset as well.

Thanks for watching!

Really?

So comparing modded to stock? What abt mod to mod? Is the m2c not more equipped to gain performance as a result of its numerator given that denominators are the same?

We are not just talking engine here. OP covered brakes, electronics (amp), engine, handling, ETC. Missing cooling. My buddies OG always overheated with JB4.

OP,

Thanx for the shortcuts on settings! Very useful.

Did u get a m2c specific owners manual for the car? They gave me an m2 og manual.

Gotta say that I can't believe u went slick on the carbon though. That makes the competition unique. Like paying for it three time from car purchase, slick carbon, and resale for a guys who wants a comp. dry weave is sooooo much easier to care for, grips, and gives it a raw feel an m deserves. What do you think of the m4 cs doors?
