Anyone using the M2 OEM wheels as Winter setup?

My son is picking up his M2 on Saturday. We have to figure out his Winter setup. We are now looking to take his 19" OEM wheels and turn them into the Winter setup. Do you think the 19" OEM wheels could survive the Canadian winters? We are pretty diligent in keeping a clean car throughout the year. Your thoughts on the OEM wheels for Winter are appreciated and if you are using them for the winter, what size tires did you go with?

Yup! I'm using the OEM 19's for winter and will be using M3/M4 style 513m 18" wheels in the summer. I plan on tracking the car next year so the 18" summer wheels will be better for that, plus I love the looks of them.

The winter tires I'm running have a bit of a stretch to them on the wide OEM rims - 225/40r19 front and 255/35r19 rear. I'd probably recommend going with stock size tires on the stock rims as they'd add a bit more protection at the slight trade-off of a marginally worse snow and ice traction. I only bought them because the price was right (Bridgestone Blizzaks brand new unmounted for $600 CDN).

I'm doing the same, though I'm running a wider setup to help protect the wheels.
Running 265 35 19 blizzaks all around.

I am using standard set up (staggered 245 front/265 rear on 19s) for winter with replica black 437 wheels on Pirelli Sottozero II , only winter tires in stock size, worked great last winter in Toronto and looks awesome; fantastic handling on cold dry roads ...

My tire guy can get Michelin Pilots Alpine in 245/35 and 255/35. They are all out of 265/35. He's suggesting to stick with the Michelins and go with 245/35 all around. This was the cheapest out of the three options:

The other 2 options he gave me are:

ContiWinterContact™ TS 830 P 245/35 and 265/35 these are $130 more
Pirelli WINTER SOTTOZERO™ 2 245/35 and 265/35 these are $400 more

Any thoughts here?

Prefer the staggered set up - looks just as great as the stock summer tires and ride/handling is very similar. Snow traction is decent enough for Toronto-never got stuck .With this set up, was not desperate to put summers back on.

Awesome. What brand of winter tires did you go with?

Decided to go with the PA4 245/35R19 and 255/35R19. The 255's should work in the rears.

Yeah 255/35r19 will work fine in the rear (it’s what I’m running), but it is a bit stretched which leaves the lip of the rim exposed and more susceptible to chips / rash / damage etc. I’d personally go for 265 on the stock rear rims if I could do it over but you’ll be fine either way.

I got a set of ferric grey 437Ms for winter, but ordered 4 of the "front" wheel version. Square setup with PA4s in 245/35R-19.

It's excellent, and the car still looks great and drives very similar to summer, but slightly softer on bumps (which my fiance appreciates!). I've had no issues at all keeping traction, save for the one night I had to make a late grocery run in some fresh snow. I still made it, but had some fun throwing the back end around on turns.

What did you do with your OEM tires? I read that RFTs can't be remounted. I was thinking about putting winters on my OEM 788M rims and then taking the tires from the 788M and putting them on some Apex S10 rims.

This isn't what I was told. I don't pick my car up for another 3 weeks, after I get back from vacation, and can check them then. In the mean time, I sent an email out to the salesperson to ask him this.
