Locking Nut/key - 437Ms

Hey guys - where is the locking nut/key located on the OG M2 LCI?

My dad is trying to get his winter wheels put on, and can't seem to find it.

If anyone has a picture, that would be awesome!

It's located in the black and red trimmed pouch (The towing hook is also there) which is under the floor in the trunk next to the battery.

Mine is in the center counsel. Location depends on were you put it. There is no standard location.

I will check it out.

Did you find the key?

An oversized 12 point socket will do the trick.

We didn’t. :/

The dealer is overnighting it to us (he’s in Indy and I’m in Chicago, where we got the M2).

Hopefully we can get the tires swapped tomorrow!

Nice going!

I just got new 4S's that I need to mount.

I'm assuming your most likely putting on winters though.

WEll he did. he's got the Blizzaks LM001 I think - I am running the 4S all around on my M3, so we will see how that goes.

Mine was in a box in the glovebox with the 4 standard lugs that were removed.

Mine didn't come with wheel locks either, had to buy 'em myself.

The key should come with the wheel locks. That is when I got mine.

Agreed but I got the impression from the OP that his car came with locks and that "the dealer" was sending him a key...

As @mjsaville said (unless UK specific) in the trunk, under the floor pan, located next to the battery, mine has a black, red trimmed "on-board toolkit". Inside the toolkit is the theft proof locking wheel nut.

Yup, that's it.

Puzzling that some of you were required to 'buy' the wheel lock key. AFAIK it's a standard toolkit part of the car. Was always included in the toolkit with all my BMW cars. Do they also charge for the headrests of the rear seats ?

BTW, about the picture: feel free to remove the black foam holder of the tire mobility kit and you win some space for stuff.

Unless you're referring to different posts, what some of us mean is that our car didn't come with wheel locks at all. There's no wheel lock key because there are no wheel locks - my car came with standard nuts in all 5 positions on all wheels. I found a set of OEM BMW spinning sleeve wheel locks on eBay for only $44 so it was no big deal. I just assumed BMW stopped including them at some point, but maybe that's not the case?

US cars come with no wheel locks. They are an option that most of us purchase.

I see now. Wheels are never stolen in the US. Maybe leaving out the wheel lock key on US-spec cars is a way to 'compensate' the extra weight of the side blinkers integrated in the front end that don't feature on EU-spec cars ?
