Any cutting required on the stock exhaust piping to pair with this mid-pipe?

Yes, your factory pipe is a single piece exhuast and it will require two cuts to be made. After that you simply clamp our mid pipe to your stock rear exhuast. You can also revert back to stock with clamps or welding if need be.

Is this basically a resonator delete?

Effectively yes, but it also merges both banks in to a single 3.5" pipe up until it splits again just before the rear differential.

The advantage of the single pipe is increased exhaust velocity which helps the turbos spool and also provides a torque and HP gain. However, our mid pipe has been extremely popular with the S55 M3/4 customers because it changes the raspy, tinny sound of the S55 and makes the exhaust not much smoother and deeper.

Is it already available for sale? Any pricing info? Also would be great if you guys could weight the stock system vs your signature exhaust.

I see the midpipe for sale on the site but not sure about full system from DP back.. I guess you buy the two separate but was hoping there maybe was a price break for getting the whole thing. I guess we will find out soon.

No, unfortunately the midpipe that fits on the stock muffler doesn't fit on their signature exhaust. AFAIK, they are not interchangeable. The midpipe for the full DP back system is different (at least this was the case with their M3/M4 offerings).

I'll weigh them both this week when we get the next car in

Our mid pipe is not compatible with our full Signature system.

Our mid pipe splits back in to two pipes to connect to the stock muffler. Our Signature exhaust uses a 3.5" single all the way back to our rear muffler, where it splits in to (2) 3.5" pipes for the valve system. So even when the valve is closed the exhaust path still has a full 3.5" system (muffled).

Thanks for the clarification - how much hp/tq + spool gain is there in the full 3.5 "signature" vs only the midpipe + stock diaper?

This 3.5 single mid-pipe sounds like a hidden fix for the S55's unique sound..

Even just the mid mated to a stock exhaust barrels should make discernible difference..

If anyone needs the part number for the OEM exhaust clamp: 18307536426

On a bone stock car there isn't much of a performance difference, but the Signature system is a little deeper sounding and includes valve control.

On a tuned, high output car, the stock rear muffler becomes more restrictive and that's where the performance gain of the Signature system becomes measurable over the midpipe + stock muffler.

Our midpipe is extremely popular for the M3/4 because of that. We also include the clamps as well when it's purchased.

I see you guys sell both the catless DP's as well as the midpipes for the S55 engine...

Was going to bounce this off you for comment:

First of all, a question. I assume the M2C also has secondary cats in its midpipes? I know with the N54 engine E9x cars, that was the case.

From just a sound perspective – with a stock exhaust – I'm trying to understand what catless DP's would sound like vs. midpipes, on the M2C.

Are DP's that raspy on this engine? I see from this thread that there's no raspiness with midpipes, so that's great.

What about the deeper exhaust note? Do you also get that with just DP's (and stock midpipes)?

Finally, catless DP's are typically what are done when going stage 2. For a tune like BM3, do you know if going with a midpipe would also qualify for stage 2, or it's not enough?

OK, real finally... as far as the smell goes with catless DP's, I'm surprised to read some people complain about it. Many people with catless DP's I know on the E9x platform with stock midpipes (secondary cats), didn't smell anything, other than a bit on cold starts. So I figured the secondary cats were just enough to get rid of the smell.

Sorry if the M3/M4 guys who have had this engine for years have already hashed this out, but thank you in advance for summarizing it here.
