Bimmer Masterpieces Extended Knee Pad Installed
So I took the chance and ordered the Polar Blue extended knee pad from Bimmer Masterpieces for my 18 M2 (no blue stitching). I'm 6'4" and my knee has never touched the oem pad. Not sure who they had in mind when they made it so small and so far forward but not someone like me . My knee however does hit the edge of the center console on the plastic and it doesn't feel so good. Actually, after a bit of hard cornering it hurts pretty bad.
Removing the old oem pad was a simple as pulling it off. Not hard at all. The new one comes with double sided tape but I went ahead and added my own 3m to it just to make sure it stays put. Verdict is basically thank God they made this thing! Fits perfect, looks great, the stitching matches and no more knee pain. At least on the right knee... I also installed the carbon shifter and e-brake kit while I was at it. Looks great and I got it for right at $400. Is it worth $400? Hell no but it does look awesome lol. |

Agreed! Thanks for this review. Because of your review and photos, I took a chance as well and can confirm your comments. I'll also add it's a bit more plush than the stock one with thicker padding. Money well spent for someone who rests their knee there

I used PayPal. It was 117 EUR + 20 EUR to ship. Converted to USD it came to $165.85. I received an extremely brief, broken english confirmation email the day after placing my order, followed by a tracking number a couple days later. Took about a week to arrive. Arrived in perfect condition. |

Any worries about that tape sticking on a hot humid day? Why would they not use the oem mounting pins in addition to tape? How is the stitching and leather quality?

No problems for me with the tape not staying secure. There's quite a bit of tape on the back so I don't see this thing going anywhere as long as you prep the area properly before adhering this on. The leather and stitching quality is at least equivalent to stock.

How did you prep the area? I just fitted this piece and it was loose the next day. I added more pressure this time, hopefully it sticks. My car only has 600 miles so I’m not sure what kind of prep would be needed. Stiching quality is very good. To me the black leather has more pronounced ridges and texture than the rest of the car.

I used fingernail polish remover and kept pressure applied for about five-ten minutes. Sticking well on mine and looks so much better than the stock pad!

3M makes adhesive promoter wipes that are also a good option.

Just finished installing. I love it! The quality is perfect and it's very comfortable compared to the stock pad that never lined up with my leg. I did a DIY as I went on Instagram so I'm attaching the images below.
Overall very simple procedure. Removed the old one with a pry tool gently. Cleaned off the area with acetone. Removed the stickers off the back of the new knee pad to expose adhesive. And finally stick it on. It sticks pretty well. Just went and thoroughly rubbed it on every few minutes for the next 20/30 min and it seems to have seated itself well. Sorry for the pictures being out of order... posting from the mobile app and I can't control the order but just see the step number to see them in order.
