Subaru clutch engagement has always been at the top of the pedal travel. I have no idea why they do this but it's annoying. You get used to it after a while but it can make the car hard to drive smoothly for a person that's not used to it.

Type RA is still old and dated. Basically trying to factory mod a 15 year outdated platform.

That having been said, the hydraulic steering is truly great. i'd take it over the M2's pure EPS any day of the week. The Bilstein setup is also impressive. The car handles great eve with the understeer. The engine just can't match the grip.

It's effectively the same motor as my MY00 GC8 (coming onto 20 years old), but the new one is carrying the weight of 3 passengers. You can make them handle way better with a thicker rear bar, better shocks like Koni adjustables and some negative camber.

Steering in the M2C is way better though.

I could kinda imagine why someone bought the STI 10 years ago but today? For these prices?

My brother has the STI Type RA, #5/500. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice looking car, but it'll never compare to my M2... I've drove both and the M2 is just so more dominant.

Is this better than the old s202, s203's? I recall those along with Evo 6.5 are both awesome.

The stock tune and rev hang is definitely trash, an AP and stage 1 fixes that.

For the most part I liked my STi, but I accepted it for what it was. A moderately sporty econo box with AWD. I have no doubt the car rattled but my exhaust was so loud I couldn’t tell haha. I would never pay the premium for the RA personally. But there is something about the subie rumble and raw “dinosaur” like feel that can be fun. It’s not better than the m2, no question, but wouldn’t be a bad winter beater in addition to it.

The STI legend has kind of outgrown the actual car. Lots of young people aspire to own one which is why it sells remarkably well for one of the most outdated cars available for sale today. The now defunct EVO X still sported an engine and AWD system that was newer and higher tech than the newest STI you can buy today as the engine and AWD sytem in a new STI dates back to early 2000's.

Yeah, no idea why you'd buy one with the options today. Civic Type R, Golf R, Focus RS, M2, used Evo X. There is something on all sides of that car. Even the regular WRX is more attractive if you are looking for more of a daily.
