Installing Spoiler after Paint Protection Film

Hey guys,

I've been looking online and can't seem to find an answer. I want to install a carbon fiber spoiler, but I won't have it by the time I install my PPF. Are there any different steps I should take when removing the stock spoiler (possible ripping of PPF, etc)? Thanks in advance!

The M Performance spoiler is deeper than the stock one. My dealer has removed the Xpel Ultimate from the trunk lid during spoiler installation.

Could you go back to have the vendor install the ppf on the trunk lid after the carbon fiber spoiler installed ?

Sure you can, but I am not sure that (PPF) is really useful on the trunk lid ... (btw, my M2 got a full protection).

Agree, don't think ppf is necessary on trunk. I did just my bumper, headlights and rockers. Seems like the OP wants to do a full ppf wrap.

Sorry all, I'll be doing a full body XPEL Stealth application, which is why I'm covering the trunk!

I'm sure you could just leave the stock spoiler off after the ppf is installed and install the new one over the ppf.

If they reinstall the spoiler over the ppf you can remove it with some fishing line. Basically saw through the double sided tape and then remove the leftover tape by hand

This is probably the best option. You don't want to deal with removing 3m tape over ppf if you don't have to. Just pop the new one on after you get it.

I wrapped around my MP lip. I don't want to deal with removing the lip when the wrap has to come off.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life but did any of you who installed a lip spoiler on top of ppf encounter any long term issues?

That just sounds like a terrible idea.

I don't really see a problem with it. The forces affecting the lip are minimal so the tape should stick nicely. Reinstalling after PPF removal is also very simple.

I would not skip PPF on the trunk. I got my car used and the only body panele that had scratches was the trunk lid. I guess some dumbass used it as a shelf.

Dunno, it just seems odd to me to place a semi-permanent piece of the body to PPF. I'm sure it would hold up just fine, Just thinking it would be better just to weed around it with the PPF.
