Thats what I thought.. Bimmercode.. Unfortunately, they dont have an Android version.. So for me I guess it will have to be Carly which, I believe, will also easily code out this abomination. Although, as I wrote in my post a few above, there seems to be a question as whether this in fact can be done without throwing a code.. Its hard to decipher what they wrote on their web site about this.. I emailed them but they havent responded.

You don't have any Apple products (aka iPad)? If you have friends or family with Apple, you can always have them get the app and then reimburse them.

After you code your preferences, you really don't need it anymore. I look at the BimmerCode updates, but there isn't really anything left that I want to code in. We had a So Cal meet (I didn't attend), but I think members helped other members code their car for free.

For those of you who coded ASD off, did any of you get a fault light on the dash? MyCarly support said you 'might' get one although the tool Can successfully code it out.

Just coded ASD out today with the bimmercode app, took 2 min, 0 issues

The stereo sounds about the same, i really can't tell if there's a difference in audio quality

There isn't any white noise (i have a MY 2017)

The biggest difference to me would be the large amount of drone that was present is now gone. It's unreal how much quieter it is in the cabin.

Also i've realized that my exhaust (fabspeed sport cat + dinan res delete) isn't as loud as i thought. I can actually hear it for what it is now which is making me want to upgrade to something louder.

So let me get this straight. You coded out the ASD so that your cabin is quieter and you can hear things better.. But now, you want to install a louder exhaust? There is drone with both, so not understanding.

Let's say keeping the ASD on makes the cabin volume 100 and having it off makes it 50.

I'm looking for 75. Kapeesh?

Ive just read a lot of posts from MPE owners who complain about drone, which if Im not mistaken, is what you werent happy about. Good luck in finding an exhaust with just the 'right' amount of sound. The endeavor, however, might be akin to a fart in a windstorm.

I'm going with a Remus catback in unison with my fabspeed 200cell cat. Should be perfect.

There is a Bimmercode Android version. I've not used it yet because my car isn't here, but I have downloaded the app... It looks the same, so it should behave the same.

Anyone else tried it yet?

I coded ASD off on my MY18 this evening. I’m really glad I did - BIG difference. For the better.

What did you use to code it?

Ive got the app and the adapter; just waiting to grow some balls to try it.. From what I gather, coding ASD off is simply a matter of selecting F20/F21 as our model range, and bingo, off it goes. Is that about what you did?

Even simpler than that. I used the normal menu. Launch app, connect to ECU and pull data, go into Active Sound Design section (ASD_01), go into "Active Sound Design, select "Not Active", and code.

Turning off ASD makes the interior much more quiet. The "boominess" is gone but you can still hear the exhaust. As the thread title says, it's a "total win" for as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for sharing Chris. My car will be in any time soon and I was thinking in addition to Bimmercode I would get the Bimmerlink so I could turn the ASD off and on. Now I think coding it off is the way to go.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be great if BimmerLink also had the option to enable / disable rev-matching, now that we know it's something that can easily be coded on and off.

The more important thing though for me, is BimmerLink on Android!
