Fake fender and bumper vents
The fake vents bother me, a lot. I'd like to have them cut out. I realize there is the M Performance carbon fender on it's way, but I dislike the looks of the carbon line and the placement of the vent opening. I saw that IND has some gt3/2 RS vented style fenders on the way, but again I think it's too much. Has anyone attempted to make the existing fake vents, functional?

They're not meant to be vents nor do they look like one?
The part on the Rear bumper is literally a reflector when stock from the factory. The image you linked is an aftermarket insert that replaces the rear reflector |

I agree with what OP is saying
Why the sarcasm towards this thread? I want functional vents in the front fender too , not some stupid badge that bmw cheaped out on purpose so that the m3 m4 'toes arent stepped on' Looks kinda silly that the grove in the front fender is there but no holes, id llove it if someone is able to punch holes in that front fender without replacing it altogether |

Not sure about the rear one, but for the side gills, BMW are making an M Performance replacement - the whole fender is carbon fibre with a cutout for air - functional and better looking IMO.
Have a look at this, it's on an M2C (fits M2) |

Yea man, in my original post I mentioned that I know this will be an option in the future. It looks just ok to me. I really dont like the unpainted carbon line though.

Well you could get it painted, not like it has to be like that. I would think it is functional to relieve pressure from wheel wells.

The m2 needs this mesh style from the m5 -
Can someone photoshop the mesh to the m2 side fender? I don't have photoshop, but if I can see it on the screen first, I will attempt to dremel it out myself. I sent IND an email asking for this and they said they have no interest in bringing it to the market.

This is just common sense, if there are holes in the fender then air pressure can sift through from the wheel wells, thats the whole point of fender vents...

Cosmetically, do what you want. I'm just saying don't expect any changes in performance and at worse it might not be a positive change. |

But bmw they have a funcational hole for the M performance front fender, which is approved for the m2, m2c body type, So what your theory is , does not make sense |

I know that, I have the same car. Behind the plastic insert is a large gaping square in the sheet metal. You could get a new cover made with a hole if you so desire. As for the M performance fender, look at the vent location in relation to the stock side gill/panel location. They are pretty far apart. So to your point, they have a functional hole that they put some place else, which leads me to believe having a hole/vent in the stock location, wouldn't be a benefit.

I would put openings along the groove that goes downwards, kind of like how the m3 has, and m perf fender has, But older M models had a badge in a similar position where rhe m2 is now, im not sure if they had holes in them |
