M Performance shifter - no words

I can’t believe how much more I enjoy the feel, weight, precision and looks after I switched to MP shifter. Took me 45 seconds to install.

Does it make it feel like a shorter shift?

The actual shifter isn't as tall as stock so yes, the shifts feel shorter.

Came as a set.

You can probably order same combo from local dealer but you won’t have blue stitching.

Just received this. I take it all I have to do is pop the spring clips? Any insider tip I need to be aware of?

I used the center arm rest as leverage to pull the stock knob off, be careful not to hit yourself in the nose. I got REALLY close to doing so.

Installed. Very easy as others have said. But I have to say, I'm not digging the feel in my hand. Of course, I still have the 'muscle memory' of the stock shifter and am hoping some time getting used to the new one will fix this.
Looks great but Just feels puny.

Yeaa, I was in the same boat. Eventually got used to the smaller size, now I quite like it. Or maybe I just like playing with the CF pores on the one side...who knows.

I do like it more aesthetically.

Im having this installed on my car! I like the matching dry carbon and the overall looks in general.

Reminds me of my old Momo shifter.

Definitely a winner on looks...and feel. The dry carbon looks great and feels great too.

Just the size is bugging me.
I'm sure it will grow on me.

I wonder how the alcantara will hold up. It's only on the backside so it should take far less abuse then front side.

This isn't the actual BMW M performance shifter is it? I thought the M performance shifter for the M2 and M4 was a sliver shifter with illumination.

It is. There are two versions. The silver one technically won’t work with the M2 since our shifters aren’t illuminated. Of course you could install that one but it just won’t light up unless you find a power source to tap.

Are there any real pictures of the "actual" BMW one? I was under the impression this one was only from IND.

BMW has a LCI version which lights up by tapping into a power source as mentioned.

The IND version is the modified M Performance shifter which normally comes with white stitching. Soon we will offer them orange stitching as well.

I personally didn't notice any difference in shift distance after I installed mine. It sits a tad bit lower than the stock but I like the size of the knob. It seems to fit my hand better.

That's not true. The silver one with the blue stitching on the boot is specifically made for the M2 and it comes with splices and BMW instructions of which wires to tap into for illumination. The one with carbon fiber is made for the regular 2 series (235/240) hence the white stitching on the boot and IND is changing the boots to match the M2 interior.

I like the m perf shifter because it's a bit lower and it lets me use a variety of hand positions - hand over top for precise and quick shifting, side grip for lazy shifting and three fingers on top/around if I'm extra lazy or someone's elbow is in the way where I can't move my arm into 5/6th gear
