I'm in the same boat as your were a few months ago. Debating if I should jump on the M2 Competition and get rid of the GT4. I have two young kids and it sucks they can't take a ride with me

Any regrets? Let me know your thoughts. (apologies if you've already answered it in the thread somewhere).

i might have seen your car on RL. I might post mine up for sale soon.
Howdy! Absolutely zero regrets for me. Best reasons (not rank order):

1) I have a dedicated track car, so the GT4 was only a weekend car and occasional track car.

2) 3,800 miles roughly in 1.5 years in the GT4 means I really didn't get to drive it much since we were taking my truck or wife's yukon everywhere on the weekends due to lack of backseat.

3) My son LOVES to go on drives in "daddy's race car", so 2500 miles in 4 months is a good pace... means we're taking it everywhere on weekends with the family, so i get to enjoy it more.

That said, the GT4 definitely has more to offer in performance, but also at a price $40K over the M2. But, the M2 is no slouch, especially for a fun weekend car with the family. So my recommendation is that if this is just a fun car to take family along for the ride... M2 all day long. Hope that helps

I am WAY behind on updates, but not a lot going on in the last few months. Only main things I've done recently are:
  • Hawk HPS brake pads: stock Brembo pads have WAY too much dust for a street pad. The HPS have far less dust, and no noticeable difference in braking.
  • Wired my M5 illuminated shift knob, but have not yet installed it. The SSK i received was the wrong one (M3/M4), so am waiting for the replacement to arrive (on backorder) before swapping in the new knob. Once done, i'll take some pics. For reference, appears will be easy to wire into the comfort/sport switch

Thanks for the feedback!

Having to sit in the GT4 alone most times could get boring...definitely need to get the family involved. However, it's a good excuse to get some alone time!

I've never test drove an M2, so I'll probably need to do that ASAP to get a feel for the performance difference. GT4 is definitely a track-centric car and wasted on the street, as you mentioned, M2 much more practical in both environments.

Your feedback definitely helps, thank you and enjoy the M2 in good health!

If you've driven an e46 M3, to me the M2 is much like that but with more torque. It certainly doesn't rev as high as the e46 M3, but heck neither does the GT4.

Not had any updates in a while because I'm just really happy with the car as is. But on another car related front, I've got my next project in house.... 2002 e39 touring that will get an s62!
