F87 S55 - back section only - no link pipe - sounds much better in any mode;
F87 S55 - linkpipe + back section - I prefer then sound in efficient mode - sport plus too much rasp and popcorn for my old ears - no doubt BM3 burble fettling could soon address that though Hats off to the Akra Boffins for making a silk purse from a sow's ear. Shame about the price though...

Based on past systems, I am sure this will be "salty", but I haven't seen any specific numbers yet. I am guessing 5-6K USD....

Without the 'pops & burbles' this exhaust sounds discernible better than stock.. Stealthy and resounding, without being too overly raspy.
Plus it eliminates those big, saggy, exhaust cojones. Kudos to Akrapovic for their research and development, as I'm sure with the new OPF requirement, they couldn't just re-label the old M4 barrels but instead had to go back to drawing board and design a revised, compatible product - so I kind of understand the high price tag. As always, keep us updated on any changes.. |

All in all, my system is still a prototype. I have been informed they are working on a few tweaks to make it even better. As soon as I can share more I will let you guys know. MR |

10 month owner update!
I decided to create a 10K km update on my BMW M2 Competition. It gives some insight into what I have been doing with the car the last few months.
https://drivetribe.com/p/bmw-m2-comp...Q-S75M78pQzJ3A Next up are interior upgrades, such as the aluminum throttle and brake pedals, the M Performance steering wheel, the carbon kit for the shifter and handbrake, the red M1/M2 buttons from IND, and the longer Autotechnic shifter paddles. Wrapstyle in Zlin will also do some repairs on the PPF after those 10K km as well. I picked some stone chips in the PPF which need a fix. At this moment, still working on the suspension kit. The BBS wheels will arrive in March and are on order. Also the wrap vinyl will be done in March I think, but the design is set. This way the wheels and the vinyl fit to each other. Of course, we will also work further on a tune and there will be more testing on the upcoming new downpipes from Akrapovic, but more on those when they arrive. MR |

Today was a special day for me as a Bimmerfan...
No freaking clue why my topic is still in this forum, but OK... After the 10K km update earlier this week, I had a moment of being bored and finding my way to through the 2nd market yesterday. I have that urge when the workload is pretty much nihil. All in all, it became a lot more special than I thought....
Today was a special day for me as a Bimmerfan. I got the chance to drive the BMW E46 M3 CS, which is a car not many people know about. A model that only has 326 examples in total in Europe of which three were parked at Bergwerff, a BMW specialist in the Netherlands. I have a soft spot for it since I would love to have one parked next to M2C... The interesting bit for me is that the M3 CSL is my ultimate dream BMW together with the M3 CRT, which I consider more my ultimate daily. I wasn't aware they had three, when I came over to look at a unique grey coloured and refurbed version parked inside the showroom. I shared my thoughts on the fact that a Blue or Red one would be my choice, with Interlagos Blue being my favorite choice. Luckily two more were parked outside with one Interlagos Blue version being on site for me to drive. Lucky! After I had driven the CSL in the Spring earlier this year, this was a really special. I really love the CSL for what it offers, but we all know... that SMG gearbox. The BMW UK PR manager suggested to me a few years ago to have a look at the CS, not immediately knowing what it was. Interestingly, the CS is not called CS in Europe, but Competition Pack. Weird but true. The drive itself provided that unique E46 M3 flavor. The lovely sound track, the precise steering and its talent constantly available under your control. The S54 is one of the finest six-pot engines ever made, and it's a feast to control it. The car is not necessarily blistering fast, but the way it provides that engagement makes it in my opinion one of the best BMWs ever made. It is so much what the CSL has, but controlled by a manual. For me it would be a dream to add one to my garage. The one I drove proved to be a wonderful project vehicle with a lot of repairs to be done. Nothing out of the ordinary, just the general things. In the end, for me the price tag was a touch too high for my liking, especially with a mileage of over 135K km and knowing that the UK market offers them considerably cheaper. They are a lot more rare in the UK with only 275 pieces ever made, so it gives an indication of the price. In Europe, it seems there are hardly any available or for sale making it even more special that I drove the spec I prefer. Still the 42K EUR price tag, was one bridge too far. Back to finishing the GP2 and M2C, and saving up for the time I find one that has the right mileage and price. Last edited by MR.; 12-22-2018 at 02:12 PM.. |

It all depends what they release. If it is a 300+ hp manic FWD machine with a proper diff and auto box then maybe, but I wonder, I really wonder. The F-series is pretty horrible to drive out of the box, it needs so many upgrades to be decent. In the end, it will be between the M2 CS(L) or the GP3. Both might be an option as well, but let's wait and see what is being released next year. MR |

New update after many weeks of not much to share really. Over the past days I have finished the interior. It is pretty much done! We fitted at my local work shop a whole range of parts.
- BMW M Performance steering re-upholstered and with a red 12 o'clock marker. - AutoTeknic shifter paddles in matte black - Red M1/M2 buttons from IND Distribution - BMW M Performance carbon DCT gear selector and hand brake kit - BMW M Performance aluminum pedal covers for both brake pedal and throttle For now the interior is done. It has an Awron display that I still need to upgrade to the latest software and I have installed my VAVA dash cam in it. No need to do anything more. MR |
