All N55 cars sounded very good, most of the Mercedes sounded even better. The older BMWs e46 and e30 were also pretty good.
Obviously the Civic was the worst, VWs were hit or miss, all the S55s were ..., well, S55s. |

That M5 sounds so good and that M4 sounds awful. I've noticed before in various M3/M4/M2C videos that you hear sounds that don't sound like exhaust burble but more like really bad vibration rattle. Like the license plate holder is loose and vibrating against the back of the car, or the bumper is missing some of its fasteners and is shaking. You can hear it at exactly 2:26 - that sound should never come out of any well-maintained, properly-functioning car. At 2:33 you hear something similar but at a higher frequency. Can't blame the MPE for this, as I've heard this same vibration-like sound on M2C vids. No punches pulled here - that sounds AWFUL, because it doesn't sound like engine or exhaust. It sounds like something is loose or broken, which I would think isn't the brain response BMW was going for. It's a dissonant sound that you might accept with small outboard marine motors, but you wouldn't accept it on a $35K Toyota Camry so why is it acceptable on a $70K BMW?
