I immediately got the plate and this is the first bmw I’ve owned for under a year now. It’s not like you needed some bmw knowledge to know what it was, all you had to do was say it out loud hahah |

Although you can’t tell this is right at Sunrise, woke up on New Years and went for a morning cruise! I was hoping for some more fog but this will do.
I ordered a front lip so that should be on sometime this month! |

I agree!
Info no one asked for: Long story short, I’ve wanted this spec M2 since I saw one in a dealer in 2018 (LCI MG 763m wheels and all the M perf bits), Then in 2020 I got a crazy deal on a Hockenheim 6spd M2c and ended up flipping it. I knew one day after selling that I’d get the dream spec of Mineral Gray 6mt LCI, although the only thing I’m missing is the nice headlights! The dealer I purchased this OG M2 had an M2c for the same price and I still purchased the OG! Something about this spec for me. First two pictures: My old Hockenheim M2c Third: OG M2 I saw in 2018 |

2020 6mt M2c. Today installed Ohlin R&T Coilovers and Ultimate Clutch Pedal. Both awesome so far. Had stock shocks with Eibach springs. Hated it. It just couldn't handle the rough freeway or backroads commuting. Drive after install: Clutch is sooo much better. Pedal doesn't go as far to the floor. Engages quickly just off the floor. Exactly like it should be. Way easier 1st & 2nd shifts. The Ohlins seem much more smooth. Sharp bumps are much softer and wheels feel like they are pushing down to the ground rather than sharply bouncing across. Ride isn't harsh despite the heavier springs with kit. Overall, really looking forward to the commute on Monday. Might try a short shifter next.

new serpentine belt!
With only 39,687 miles (~64K km) on my '18 M2, there were plenty of miles left on my M2's serpentine accessory drive belt. But, the car is six years old this year and the original belt mfr. (Continental) recommends the belt be replaced every 5–6 years, regardless of mileage. So, it was time.
The many YouTube videos for replacing N55 belt, pulley, and tensioner gave a great overview of how to go about this maintenance. Once I released the tensioner with my breaker bar and T60 Torx bit, the old belt slid right off. With the replacement belt in place, the car started right up and idled smoothly with the new belt spinning round'n'round'n'round. I initially had a devil of a time trying to get the new belt into place. Once I finally realized that I didn't have the belt all the way on the crank hub, I reseated it on the crank hub and then it slid easily onto the various pulleys. Lesson learned: really make sure the belt is fully seated on the crank hub pulley before trying to get it over the AC, alternator, and idler pulleys. The original belt looks really good to my eye (see attached photos of the belt I removed from the engine). It still measures fine with the Continental belt wear test tool and I don't see any cracks or obvious signs of wear. I suspect the belt would've been fine for another 10K miles, but it's nice to have the peace of mind of a brand new belt. I'll probably keep the original belt around in a cabinet for a just-in-case situation. And I got the replacement belt from FCP Euro, so I'll be able to get a full refund on it when it ages out and it's time to replace it again. In all, this looks like a muuuuch easier job on the N55 than the S55 motor. There are far fewer hoses in the way and only one belt to replace instead of two. |

I was changing out belts this weekend as well but on my Ducati twin. it, too, was looking very nice still even after 5+ yrs. I could have left it for, at least, 3 more.
Bled the brake fluid on the M2 using Ate SL fluid, plus the Subaru and 2 motorcycles. Busy and productive weekend.

The tensioner is rated for 60K miles and the idler pulley probably far longer than that — though who knows when the idler pulley bearings will actually start to go out. So, when I get back in there to replace the tensioner, I plan to replace the idler pulley at that same time as well. If the belt has aged out by that point, I'll get a free replacement from FCP Euro and throw a new belt on, too. |

Not today but over the last couple of weeks:
Installed genuine M Performance race display steering wheel along with some carbon fibre magnetic paddle shifters. Paddle shifters are from AliExpress at a quarter of the price of the JQWerks ones – they're literally identical without branding. If anyone's interested I'll link them here. Completely transforms the interior and has motivated me to do more to it (Recaro Pole Position for the drivers side is on the list). Had SPL rear toe links + eccentric lockout kit installed yesterday along with a service, diff oil change, and alignment: Front Camber: -3.1 Toe: 0 Rear Camber: -2.4 Toe: 1.6 Also rolled and pumped the front guards slightly, and trimmed the front bumper tabs to stop rubbing. Nice to finally have everything dialled in and just enjoy the car for a bit. Feels amazing. Last edited by lmach; 01-12-2024 at 12:22 AM.. |

Blue Button
I fixed it.
With all the blue accents, I think the M2 should've had a blue start/stop button from the factory. So, I added one — the one from IND. Install was super-straightforward, especially with my Subaru plastic spudgers from my WRX days. The install procedure video from IND on YouTube was spot-on. It's a subtle improvement, and I LOVE it. Gotta be worth +5whp, right?! |

Reached 50k miles. Has been an absolute riot so far and pretty damn reliable. Not a garage queen but sure does look like one!

Drove here in sub zero temps to run some errands today. Even on winter tires this thing is a hoot…the little bit of snow helped of course.
I’ll never have a daily driver more fun than this.

Installed my custom Rigakit 3D badges, caps and steering wheel badge in Gloss Black and LBB. Subtle and clean imo.

I’m taking care of a bunch of small projects with the M2 this weekend. It was time for my biannual leather and rubber care session. I used some Adam’s Polishes interior cleaner on all the leather surfaces and then applied UV protectant leather care lotion to the seats, steering wheel, and other leather spots.
And I hit the door/window, sunroof, and trunk/boot seals with gasket/rubber conditioner. It took about ½ the bottle for all the rubber seals around the door opening, trunk/boot opening, and the rubber gasket around the sunroof glass. It looks like I’ll get one more application out of the bottle when I reapply the conditioner in six months. The bottle came with a circular foam applicator. But I picked up a small foam brush from the local hardware store paint section to be able to get in all the small nooks and crevices, especially in the door and window seals. |
