Why are people selling their BMW M2 CS
I'm just confused because I thought the BMW M2 CS would be this amazing car that everyone would want to get and keep. Is there something that I am missing or is it that some of us are just tired of the CS and want something different?

lots of reasons why people sell. maybe they are upgrading or downgrading because of changes in their wants/needs or finances. i suspect a good chunk of those listed for sale are flippers though, the used market is correcting and they want to get out of their investment.

Not everyone can buy another car to add to the stable. I'd imagine if I had a z06 allocation land in my lap tomorrow it would be a tough call. I'd still keep the CS, but you get what im saying. For others it's dollars and cents. If you could buy a car for 90 drive it for 1yr and sell it for 100. It might not be a bad deal. Especially if you get that on trade and offset the tax on the next car.
Edit:. If i were doing it all over again. I'd try to get on as many special car model lists as I could and probably jump from one car to the next. Unfortunately I got the CS and I'm pretty smitten with it. It's put me in a real conundrum for what to get next. |

Most people don't drive them like they are intended to be driven, and therefore they become a $100K garage ornament, take up space, cost money for insurance, etc. Beyond that the market has been high enough to get every penny of their purchase price back, which is hard to do usually.

I guess this pertains to any other brand. People fall out of love with their purchase. It happens.

I suspect it’s all of the above and some are probably selling because the new M2 is on the horizon (regardless of the polarizing looks). And, yes, I feel more comfortable modding the M2C than messing with the perfect recipe that is the M2CS.

Are a lot of people selling them? I checked and there are 3 for sale in Australia, two of which are molested so that will be a much harder sell.
Certainly not selling mine! |

The three aussies are all selling higher than retail and just came on the market in the last month. I’d hardly call this a stampede given there were 80 sold into the country

I’ve been considering a CS for about a year -
There has always been a few for sale every time I shop around, price been slowly going down too but I suspect it’ll sell at a premium in long term future. |

Given as how the new M2 will no doubt come in a CS version, it could be people are just getting out of their current CS in preparation for the new one. BMW knows how to set up a car and how to maximize profits with special editions.
There will always be those who want the latest and greatest.

Certainly some see the prices stabilizing and even reversing downward and are getting out.
Likely others are moving to G8X vehicles, Porsches, C8 or other special cars. Especially if they got to drive the CS for 2 years essentially for free. I’m sure a few got in over their head and need to sell. I’m hanging on to my car. Quite possibly the only 6MT CS spec M car that will ever be made. I expect the depreciation to continue along with the broader market in the near term, but I still think this will be a very special car bringing good money in 10+ years. More importantly, I love driving it. Edit: I forgot about the new 3.0 CSL that also is a 6MT. |

My CS gives me almost as much enjoyment as a stock 15 gt3 I drove on track. But I get big back seats for the kids and a full trunk along with a little more comfort at an attractive price point. The performance of the older gt3 isn't enough to get me out of the CS and pay more money. It's going to take something like the new z06/zr1 or an MC20 to get into the garage along side the CS.
I was watching a YouTuber with a z06 and added a fabspeed exhaust. It laid down 640hp at the wheels, NA, and sounded insane. That's the type of nonsense I want to add at some point. |

I wonder if Porsche guys, like me, can be turned around? If this car can turn the numbers it does, on and off the track, at a price point well under any the Germans or even the Italians can provide, at some point buyers are going to say "WTF am I doing? Maybe I SHOULD buy the 'Vette?"

I’ve always liked the z06, from the beginning when they upset the balance at auto-x.
The latest generation seems like a bit of an insult to their roots though. What was once a 60k world beating stretch of a car for a blue collar guy is now out of reach for that same segment. |

I'm at 21.2k miles and have modded it a fair bit. Don't care for the next owner. I'm going to enjoy it. Why should I save the miles for the next owner?

Z06 is too fast though. Lots of cars are too fast now. I don’t get the point. Maybe someone can explain it to me? Track day times? I don’t get that either. Track days are about fun. Once you start trying to be fastest at your track day that fun is over. |
