WTF? EPA Test issues

WTF? March release date?

After my CS has been at port for 5 weeks I push for more answers. The BMW Genius puts me on hold, then comes back and asks if I've talk to dealership sales team. Genius says they can get more direct info

So I text my guy.

He says BMW Regional rep says they are on hold until March. Something to do with EPA test.

Any info on this?

Crazy info. Hope that's not right. Lots of ruined plans and finance promos will slip, if so.

This is not making much sense as cars have been delivered in US already. Usually an EPA hold will stop any initial deliveries

Just reporting what I've been told and all this happened today.

BMW Genius acted very weird and then sales guy claimed he checks several times a day.

I hope not. Would be odd that some cars would get delivered if this was in the works. I have some very strong feelings about this and how BMW should handle the situation. It will be interesting if there is truth to the EPA hold and how it transpires.

I just called the sales manager at my BMW dealer. He said he hasn't heard anything yet about that but he will research. He also told me my cars on a boat set to arrive Dec 12 roughly.

I just reached out to my SA and another contact a little further up in BMW. I at least want him to know the geniuses are giving out info about an EPA hold.

But it can also be held at the US port of entry. And BMW can have a recall for any delivered cars.

But have any been delivered to customers in the US?

Ok, I got a quick response and this seems to be incorrect rumor.

13 delivered/sold this month and another 24 in dealer inventory getting ready to be delivered. The rest are following on ships. SA also got back to me and their contacts at port have no word about anything EPA related. The cars would he held at the destination ports if a hold were to occur.

This was the sales managers thoughts as well but he said he would look deeper into it.

The same thing happened to the RS3 release. Botched the initial 'special' '17 build release, since '18s were being released before the '17s. EPA held the cars at port for months too. Very frustrating as an earlier adopter.

So may be getting our 2020cars well into 2021? Way into MY2021.

Hope BMW figures a nice way to say thank you to those of us that wait. Maybe 0.9% money???

That is what I've been told by my SA.

There was an EPA hold back in October or so when the first orders went in. That should have been cleared up, as that release from what I can tell from my SA, is no longer in place.

If there was an EPA hold, it would affect all of the cars that are currently being delivered in the US.

I spoke with BMW yesterday on my car and it is sitting in Baltimore waiting on parts for the fuel injector recall. I was told multiple cars on my boat were affected and delayed! Parts were being delivered today.
